The biggest nightmare of my life when I was badgered to take a tour with the Grupo Mayans. They just couldn't take NO for an answer then I gave in and took the tour because they wouldn't leave me alone.

They take you out for breakfest and offer you all this FREE things and make it seem that they have your best interest at hand. Once into the sales floor, they really turned the pressure even higher than before and made all these verbal promises. Which I found out later to be complete lies and deception!

They promised that my current time share with a different company would be sold within 90 days for $7000.00 and I would use the profits from that sale to pay off the one they were trying to sell me. Which would be the deciding factor for me if it were true.

I am a single mom raising four sons and I told them that I could not afford it any other way. I asked for proof that they would sell my other time share and Lilliana Avila Garrido the sales rep. manager called Royal Vacations and gave me the phone. The man on the other end named Robert Jones told me that for 300.00 a so called brokers fee that he would sell my time share within 90 days I would have a check in my hand for $7000.00. He then took my credit card number and charged $300.00 to my account.

After I got home and tried to get in touch Robert Jones he refused all my phone call's and the customer service said I could not talk with him. After questioning the customer service rep. she informed me that they NEVER guarantee a sale, a time limit or an amount. That is when I knew that I had been deceived and RIPPED OFF!

I then hired a lawyer to send a cancellation letter to Grupo Mayan and requested them to send me in writing a confirmation of this cancellation. I did get that letter from them, but they continued with their deceptive practices by adding in their confirmation of this cancellation that "I agreed" that I would not be getting back my $5000.00 down payment, that they charged to my credit card back. I NEVER AGREED TO THAT! They then sent their cancellation letter to the credit card company with their words NOT MINE that stated that "I agreed" to let them keep my down payment, so my credit card company gave them the $5000.00. I now have to dispute this new deceptive tactic again with my credit card company.

They are liars, their snakes and I would not buy any time share from this company no matter how good it sounds to you because some where down the line you are going to uncover their deceptive practices and tactics. And you will be stuck like I am with the high down payment on your credit card that they refuse to refund even after you cancel.

Please if their is any help available out there please help me get my $5000.00 down payment back.

The best thing to know about Mayan Palace:

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

ABORT! ABORT!

Buying a mayan palace timeshare timeshare is setting a big pile of money on fire.

1. Your trades cost money on top of the maintanence fees. By the time you add up the opportunity cost of buying it, the maintenance, and the trades, you have paid for a luxury hotel room.

2. Uncertainty. You can never be sure that a trade will be available in the place you want to go. You may spend all the money and end up no closer to Mickey. You can probably get a trade for a place in the Catskills though….

3. Fees. There are yearly maintenance fees. Typically $500-750 a year. On top of the purchase price.

4. Buying points? Congrats. You just bought the right to contend for vacancies at the time share company. If they devalue them in the future, then you -might- get that place in the Catskills.
