In November of 2004, I settlred with Gulf Coast  Title Closings & Escrow Services, Inc, for the sale of a home.

After finalizing the closing , they were supposed to mail the check for 66,900 dollars to me and I never received it to this day which is January 11/2017. I calle continuously and was side tracked with excuses that it wasn`t mailed yet because other paper work had to be finished on their end, and we thought it was mailed out to you last week, we`ll get on it right away, and then there were no answers , and then came the recording that the number that you have dialed is no longer in service. I came upon some paper work with thei phone number on it a couple of days ago and today I called that number. This company has a similar name and the lady that I spoke with says that the company I `m trying to reach has gone out of business. Is there any way of tracking these people down to collect what is rightly mine? Is there help for this kind of theft out there anywhere? Please contact me if there is.

I don`t have money for an attorney,(but I will try to get up some) and at the same time, I don`t want to give up on this situation or write it off as a loss, but if there`s any other way to track these people down and get some results from this situation(some organization out there that will investigate and dig into it )....let`s do it.

A real estate attorney

Florida is a table funding state which means the seller is funded at closing. Very occasionally there will be a dry closing and the seller gets funded the next business day, but that is very rare.  I hope you can get this resolved, but 13 years late is going to be tough to prove, especially if the title co is out of business. A real estate attorney would be your best place to start. Good luck.

The final transaction was done at Gulf Coast Title Closing & Escrow Services, Inc.in Palm Harbor Florida which is not there anymore, and I have documents of the settlement statement. In the two or three times that I went to their office for business, I was never given a check or sent any funds involving the sale of the property. The amount of the sale was 66,900,and after fees and other suches I was to have received 64,000 dollars. It hasn`t happened yet. Is there a particular type of attorney that I should look up, such as real estate attorney? Your help is greatly appreciated.

You didn't get paid $66,000 from a closing 13 years ago?

The first thing to do is to get in touch with an attorney. They will be able to give you guidance on your remedies, if any.  I say "if any" because how are you going to show you never received the proceeds - especially since proceeds are distributed at closing if you are there in person and wired if you are not. Gather your paperwork from your closing and any correspondence you have about the sale and request for the distribution of your proceeds over the past 13+ years. The attorney will be able to sort through your options.
