GURO Investments Guro Invest Corp Julia Torres Asked me to scan my passport and license before the interview Calgary Alberta
I, like perhaps hundreds of thousands of Torontonians, am your average job seeker. I apply to 5-10 jobs every day online through various avenues. One day I got an email from a woman named "Julia Torres" who apparently works for an Alberta-based company called "Guro Investments." She said they decided to hire me (even though I live in TORONTO!!). Keep in mind that I was not called, nor was an interview set up. She said that before I begin to work, I must sign an employee agreement and scan two pieces of government-issued ID - specifically my passport and Ontario driver's license. She also said to do it within three days or else I will no longer be eligible for the position. She typed in very bad english. Guro Investments actually does exist. They have a website. But strangely, this woman's name is NOT on the staff list. Hmm...
Please do not ever, EVERRR send anyone your documents. I know this Toronto economy is not the best and it's a little hard to find a job but seriously, don't fall for any of this nonsense. This is the first email she sent me:
I'm pleased to inform you that your resume has been reviewed by the
HR department of the company and you are taken to our company.
Please take the time to browse the company's website.
Your position have two options full-time or part-time (immediately start)
Duties include but not limited:
- Answering Phones. Mail Sorting.
- Support a variety of reports and documents.
- Process matching donation requests.
- Process and manage orders of investors.
- Financial accounting and reporting
- Monthly journal entries, fixed assets and accruals
- Work in a friendly team.
Compensation:
- Salary at first 14 days(probation period): fixed salary - $1500 (tax expenses included) + bonus 5 % (immediately of every contract)
- Salary after probation period full-time will by $3500 per month (in the comfortable office)
- Salary after probation period part-time will by $2700 per month (on-line office, work from home)
To get started you need:
1. I attached an "Employment Agreement" to this email. Please will read carefully each point and learn all conditions of the contract.
Then print it out, fill-out, sign, scan and send it back
2. We need a copy of your passport or driver license scan and send it back
* - That is necessary to verify your identity. That is why we ask you will send us a scan of your ID, passport or DL.
You may use scanner / digital camera / web camera.
Your document will be used only for verification purposes and will be protected.
* All your personal information and documents will be confidential and protected.
** Please give me an answer of your decision within 3 days.
Else, we will provide this position to other candidate.
*** Carefully read the employment agreement and the company website.
