I purchased two wedding bands from this jeweler at the beginning of February of 2007. I paid half $1,740 at the time we ordered the rings, and the other half was billed to me (as agreed) upon delivery (end of Feb. early Mar.). All was fine until last week. Horwitz attempted to bill my credit card again for the 2nd half that I already paid. Luckily my credit card company contacted me because this action sent off the fraud detectors. After his attempt was declined, THEN he tried to contact me asking if I had ever paid the 2nd half because their records were off and he was missing paperwork.

I worked with him for close to a week to help find some records. The problem is that he never mailed out a receipt for the 2nd half (something I overlooked because of all of the planning for the wedding). I am paperless with all of my statements including credit cards. My credit card only goes back 3 months when all transactions are paid in full and I pay my credit card off completely each month. After I found this out, he has become very disrespectful, and as of recent, threatening.

He has mis-sent an email to a student I have here at the school I teach at (concerning the personal matters). He has made me get a new credit card due to the fraudulent claim that made my credit card have to re-verify my information and send me a new card. He has called me at school (without my permission) on multiple occasions. He has now threatened to come to my school if I do not pay him again for something that he has already been paid for. Why all of this almost a year later, and 9 days before I get married?

I would appreciate any and all legal advice.

Call your credit card company

Hi Lance - your credit card company should have records that go back AT LEAST the time frame you are saying. Give the card issuer a call and ask for the transaction record for whatever month/year you need to get this jerk off your back. Congratulations on your marriage, and don't sweat this one-call the credit card folks. Good luck!
