Half Price Books financially rapes sellers - beware! The last 2 times I've taken books to them to sell (recent hardbacks in excellent condition) they offered me $7.50 - can you believe it ?!?! This is beyond ridiculous and insulting. From now on I will sell my used books online - never again will I go to Half Price books to sell books!

I used tothin out my library and take 3 or 4boxes of books -mostly non fiction - over a couple of months over to the Metroplex to sell to Half Price Books. I ended up getting $20-30 for the lot. I then separated them into smaller lots and took them to several stores. Ended up getting much more for them that way.

I finally decided that it was easier to simply donate the books to the local library and take a tax writeoff. It was worth more to me in the end. If you live in the Dallas area though and want to sell books to Half Price Books don't take the wholecollection to a single store.

"Their half price would be $87.50"

Yes, if"Half Priced Books"were to have a business motto that followed that plan, but it is really more of a businessname than a business practice.

Chances areHalf Price Booksalready had a shelf fullof duplicate recenthard back books that other customers like your self brought in and sold. Try tolearn aboutthe economic model of price determination in a market called "Supply and Demand".

They "potentially" ripped me off or tried to scam me. The books I took to them today all retailed for $175.00 total. Their half price would be $87.50. To pay me $7.50 for all of them is pathetic.

With all the new technology out now books will eventually become obsolete - it will be interesting to watch how this impacts the company. It will take years but it will eventually happen.

You weren't ripped off.

They offered you a price for the books and it is up to you to accept or decline the amount.
