Harbor Freight Tools Excellent Example of Landing Price Ripoff Camarillo California
We purchased a total of 8 items from Harbor Freight and were to receive free shipping due to the dollar amount. 4 of the items were out of stock and as they do not "hold" items out of stock that cost less than 9.99 you must reorder the items when the are restocked.
You are not told they are out of stock when ordering they just drop them from the order. As the dollar amount of the shipment is now reduced they hit you with shipping fees.
This is known as the landing price. Any time some unknown impacts the total amount with unexpected fees and/or charges.
One of the items shipped damaged/inoperable when I brought this to their attention they gave me a 1 dollar credit to the shipping and handling fees and said they would reship the damaged item. I have not yet seen this.
I do not recommend this company as I regards this sort of marketing as deceptive and I do not know how I got on their mailing list.
Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired but they do have someone on a keyboard.
