Made Debit Card payment of $946.95 for a HTC Vive VR Kit. Product code 3585685. Order no. 2102027219. This was accepted. A delivery time given.
Subsequently an email informed me that the order was being reviewed then cancelled on supposed 'security concerns'. No refund was returned to my bank account.
To be fair I contacted them to resolve the matter. Without my knowledge they deposited $0.06 into my bank account for a security check. This I found highly offensive.
Eventually the matter was settled. The order accepted and a new delivery time given. Which has now passed without a delivery being made. I tried to contact them without success. Their customer service even sent a email for me to evaluate their service.
On the internet I found:
1. Harvey Norman was in the top three on NSW Fair Trading list of complaints.
2. A year or so ago a Harvey Norman Franchisee was penalised $52000.
3. 10 Harvey Norman Franchisees were penalised a total of $286000.
Also there are numerous instances of Harvey Norman Online accepting Debit Card payments for goods with delivery times given - and then reviewing and cancelling the purchases for no reason. No refunds given.
There are accounts of customers chasing their tails for months without success. No goods delivered and no refunds given.
What happens to these goods ?
I don't understand it! A satisfied customer might buy again and will certainly tell their friends. An unsatisfied customer or one who believes he or she has been cheated or defrauded will also tell their friends and anyone else who'll listen.
