Hayven Construction Contractor charges $6,000 to paint house and WON'T stand behind the workmanship! Paint falling off! Camarillo - Ventura County, California
Do you work hard for your money? Well we do! We shopped around, talked to different contractors and "thought" we had selected the right company.
We did not negotiate then down on price as we wanted a good job done. The owner Israel agreed to "roll" the paint on the exterior of our home instead of spraying.
When the crew came to our home none of them spoke English and the manager said he owned the business and Israel had nothing to do with the job, we were shocked. We called Israel he came out and double talked and got the job started. The manager then said no way was he rolling the job he was going to spray it. By now the house was torn up, all the prep work was done. Also none of the men would respond to us based on the lanuage barrier
We felt like we had a gun held to our head as everything was started and they basically had us over a barrel. We agreed to move forward although uncomfortable with the situation. One day when my husband came home he found buckets and toilet paper in the backyard. The men were defecating in our backyard, he asked them to leave. He called Israel and he said as always he would take care of it. We asked who was the boss, Israel said he was, the manager of the crew said he was.....it was a battle.
Another crew came out and finished the job. We had to ask them to keep going over it time after time as it was shoddy at best when they completed it. Everytime we would ask them to touch up something they were apparently unhappy about it.
One thing Israel was excellent at was collecting the money. He asked for $1500 up front, a week later another $1500 and then $3000 at completion, practically before they were cleaned up. It was the most prompt he was when picking up the money or calling for the money.
Shortly after the house was painted the trim began to crack, not a little but visable from the street. I called many times with no return calls from anyone. I left one final call stating that if I didn't hear back I would call the BBB and begin to take action. Soon Israel called and came out himself and put a coat of paint on one part.
Shortly after the paint began to flake worse plus additional places on the trim and also on the house. I called Haven to ask them to come out and repair it. Roy called my husband and stated the job was not any "guarantee" on their paint jobs. I was shocked!!!!
A painting company charges $6000 to paint your house that lasts about 3 months and feels that is ok. They walk away from it leaving the consumer with a house that needs to be painted again.
We contacted the CLB to find out their license had been revoked. However as most unhanded, unethical people they have found a loophole. Find another contractor as unethical as they are and work under his license. So beware if you see "Haven Construction Inc." advertised anywhere unless you want to just donate money don't call. Unless you want workers defecating in your backyard don't call. Unless you want a "contractor" to lie to you don't call.
I hope this will help others and you will tell 10 people and they will and so on. People should not be allowed to get by with this. I still believe in what goes around comes around and I will make this my business to see this through.
