Hawaiian Condo Resorts ripoff deposit withheld dishonest Honolulu Hawaii
A few days into our stay at a rental suite in Waikiki managed by Hawaiian Condo Resorts, our trouble began. One evening during routine use of the garbage disposal and plumbing system, the drain plugged.
The next morning, after working until 1 am the night before to try to fix the problem, we called for some assistance. No one responded to our messages. We were forced to call a plumber. The whole day we bailed and mopped up the mess. We also could see what 40 years does to cast iron plumbing. A two inch pipe almost closed in by rust.
We finally had to move out! We packed up our three year old and all our stuff and went to their office. We had to demand a new room for the remaining three nights of our stay. The manager (Tatum) told us we wouldn't be responsible for any additional charges and we would have our deposit credited to our visa within 14 days of check out.
A month and half later, we received a letter stating that there was considerable damage to the unit we stayed in, that the damage was attributed to our occupancy and they were in the process of determining all charges. Given the complete lack of maintenance of the plumbing, we were in disbelief. We even had pictures.
So far, we haven't been able to get our money back ($300.00). With a bit of research through the Better Business Bureau of Hawaii, we found many complaints towards this company.
We are in the process of filing a complaint with the Regulated Industries Complaints Office in Honolulu so hopefully other people won't have to go through what we are going through, being ripped off!
