Well lets start from the beginning I was 23 years Old when I walked into hawthorne credit union to open a checking and savings account(I was told by people the credit union is better than the bank) so everything was fine there, than i purchased my first vehicle through them in june of 2005, in which i had to fight for them to even give me the loan but i finally recieved it and purchased a car of there choosing not my own.

Couple of months went by until October came and they called and sent a letter asking about insurance which i did obtain before i purchased the vechicle they stated there was no insurance coverage on the car, from there they added there own premium they didnt even give me a chance to contact my insurace company fully.

So i let it go but that brought my balance up 2800 dollars more. thats was my first Problem, so because that was added to my car loan i was forced to pay a 691.00 car note( also having been a single mother) so after about 5 months of that i called to the credit union and said i proved my car insurance how come my note is still at 691.00

So one of the ladies that was there at the time said the only way to get it down is to REFINANCE the car so I said well what will that do because I was young and inexperianced with the whole process so she stated oh i can get you a 9% interest rate and your car note will be low as well so it sound good to me i went along all over the phone she did this and then she faxed me papers and just told me where to sign so i did (YES without reading) I believeed what she told me. Than after that I called back in when i saw everything online and they told me it was to late to do anything, again i said fine and just let it be.

Until I had a problem at work where i threw out my back and couldnt pay my note for june of 2007 so i had it deferred because i had to send in a doctors note and a letter stating why i needed it deferred so it was but along with that the credit union took it upon themselves to defer 3 more payments i didnt know what was going on. thats just somethings I went through.

Now on January 13th 2008 My vehicle was stolen so i followed the complete procedure when that happens(also i had gap waiver with the credit union) so I had to wait 30 per my insurance before they paid there portion towards the car and i did. so after my insurance paid there portion I was waiting on the credit union to submit there papers to the gap insurance so after waiting 60+ days for my insurance and the credit union to submit forms I called gap to see if they recieved the forms so the claims person there Lisa said oh let me check and stated to me they didnt recieve them and i said are you sure because monica from the credit union said she faxed them she goes oh yeah here they are and after about 2 mins of looking them over she states we here can only pay 2,242.97 out of 8,037.14 which would leave me with a balance of 5,794.17 to pay off on a car i dont have and she stated the reason behind this is because the credit union was taking 85% of every payment i made and put it towards just the interest and not the priciple so i said i was not excepting that offer and she stated it wasnt an offer its a settlement and only the credit union can decline it so i contacted head of the loan department at the hawthorne(Sharon Mccormsky) and she said well i have been out of the office for vacation but i will contact the gap and speak with them and call you back the next thing i know the 2,242 was added and now i still have to continue payments as of March 26, 2008 on a car which i have no possesion of I have spoken to several different insurance agents who all state to me NO MATTER what Gap should handle the balance and the credit union is behind it all I have also spoken to several members of the credit union who also state they have to been bamboozed from them.

I also have spoken to several employees such as Monica in the loan dept. and Emily in Member services dept. and Even sharon McCormsky who all stated that what was going on in my case was totally unfair. Just wanted to add this credit union owns there own gap waiver agreement in which you would think they would pay off your car if something happens but they dont its a ripoff. they also love to put all payments towards your interest in there favorite not the PRICIPLE they suck
