Many health plans such as AARP are offered through association memberships. This health plan is also an association membership plan, and just like AARP offers member benefits such as auto service discounts and travel savings. You would not say that AARP is a hoax because of that, would you? Your family doctor might very well be in one of the two national provider networks. Did you give him the names of these networks, or are you just assuming this? Had you given "Tammy" (you have not provided a phone number for her so we can't trace it to an affiliate) time to go through the plan and had gone to the recorded verification process you would have been twice informed the plan was not major medical insurance. It is easy to get caught up in joining a complaint before thoroughly investigating the facts.

I received a phone call from Tammy regarding this "Health Insurance". She DID NOT tell me that this was a Medical Discount program, she made it clear that I was going to get Health Insurance for $240.55 per month w/a $99.95 enrollment one time fee. I told her I would call her back. I looked up this Health Insurance online and to my surprise they also offer Auto Care, etc. I thought to myself, what Health Insurance Plan offers car care?? So I googled this company and saw this website........very interesting reading I must say. She even looked up my family doctor and said, oh yes, he takes this plan! This I'm afraid is a hoax, NOT HEALTH INSURANCE!!! Shame on you people!

All clients, including yourself, are clearly asked if they understand that the plan they are purchasing is not a major medical plan, but rather a limited medical benefit plan. Your response was affirmative. This plan has some "discount" benefits but also has many insurance benefits. If the plan is used properly within the provider networks it can provide significant medical savings. You apparently did not give the plan the chance to do so. If you had you would not have filed this report.

While you state that your representatives tell the consumer many times that this is a discount program the terminology that they use does not indicate that when they are talking to you. I'm sure they are trained that way. Your verification people speak so fast that it is very hard to understand them. I had to ask them several times to repeat themselves because they just speak way to fast for anyone to be able to understand them. I know these tactics and they are used by companies that have something that they don't want the consumer to understand. So pardon me if I don't believe you when you say that your representatives and verifiers tell the consumer many times. THey use double speak so that it is impossible to know everything they are saying. Quite the training program you use for them. The only way I knew that is was a discount program was when I received the information in the mail and I cancelled that day.

...this plan is NOT major medical insurance. It is a limited medical benefit plan and this is stated by the agents, the verifiers, the website, the welcome letter, the membership cards and the plan materials. If a client has declinable medical conditions and can't get qualify for or can't afford major medical insurance this plan is a good alternative. If it is used properly within the provider network it will save our clients money. This client apparently was not satisfied in some way and is using the supposed lack of disclosure as a reason to get a refund beyond that to which he is entitled.
