But you said that the pump stopped pumping, which is an indication that the tank is full.I think your problem is your guage and the next time you fill up which you have probably done by now should show that.

go to the consumeraffairs website and read through all of the complaints from Toyota owners whose airbags did NOT deploy when they were in accidents and collisions in their Toyota vehicles.
Thank You

Despite TWSMs claim to the contrary, ROR does in fact have an investigative team ready to respond whenever and wherever consumers are being ripped off. Equipped with the latest high-tech GPS mobile phone aps, laser range finders, and night vision binocular goggles, we can drop from the sky from our C-130 mothership in the dead of the night and land with pinpoint accuracy to neutralize our adversaries, be they predatory lenders, Internet scammers, merchants, or just Neo-n**i Republicans. Once we have completed a mission we have little time to bask in glory because there is always one more landlord, one more used car dealer, or one more collection agency taking advantage of the halt, the lame, and the downright stupid. Just ask for us by name. We will be there.

According to Toyota website, that vehicle has a fuel tank capacity of 21.1 gallons not the 15.8 you claim. And how do you know that you had 5 gallons already in the vehicle? Did you just put 5 gallons in at another gas station and then go to this station? Or did you put 5 gallons in yesterday and then add more today? If the second, you've probably underestimated the amount of gas you used between the first fill up and the second.

I love the reports where people think Rip off Report has a team of investigators and lawyers, all just waiting for their report to come in so they can get right on it!
How about this. If you really think you were ripped off talk to the gas station manager. If that is too scary or gets you nowhere you can call your states weights and measures people with a complaint for them to investigate. The gas station pumps are metered and stickered, so they should be inspected fairly frequently.
But before you call in the cavalry you should probably do two other things. First make sure YOU didn't make a mistake. Bring a 5 gal gas can to the station and see how the pump does with it. if it doesn't fill it right there is a great place to open a conversation with the manager. And check out the inspection stickers on the pumps and see if they are up to date.
You may have a damaged gas tank on your car or a bad gauge giving you a false reading. Since your tank and gauge are not inspected nearly as frequently as the gas pumps, I think it is more likely your car that is the problem.
Good luck.
