Rosedale Roseville .....

My 990Cse printer was out of warranty for about a year and I had a paper jam. When the jam was cleared I discovered that a tab had broken off a plastic paper guide.

I am capable of repairing the unit myself and removed the part from the unit. There are no local sources for the part so I contacted them via their web site.

Here was their response....

that part is not orderable. you'll have to send the unit in for repair to have that part replaced. for more info, call the centralized repair dept

I need to purchase a replacement part for my Deskjet 990Cse. The piece is a

plastic paper guide in the roller assembly with small brushes on one side.

The

only part number I could find was: T-371251 G7.

This does not show in your parts list. My printer is out of warranty and I

am

capable of replacing the part myself.

Why should consumers be forced to spend the money to send this equipment to "centeral repair" and pay the extra shipping, labor, and I am sure the huge price mark up on the "plastic piece" which may cost $0.30 to make. I feel this is intentional to make you either spens the hundred or so dollars to send it in or to replace the printer all together.

I feel that a company should not be allowed to sell something that they cannot supply parts for.
