I am the technician who directly diagnosed this customers vehicle, engine came in overheated. customers vehicle was at other garage prior to arriving to hillside automall and had several bolts and brackets missing off engine. this right away would be considered a void of warranty by any dealers standards but we gave this customer the benefit of doubt and proceeded to diagnose vehicle. We found that the vehicle had no antifreeze and proceeded to fill coolant when we noticed that the radiator drain was loose as if someone let it loose to drain antifreeze or possibly wanted to damage engine purposely. we then proceeded to further test as to the severity of the overheat by removing all spark plugs and performing what is called a compression test of all cylinders. All cylinders came up only to 75lbs pressure where they should be around 150lbs each, this is a result of what is called a blown head gasket. since the drain was either intentionally left open for malisciousness or by mistake it is therefore not a warranty issue, the customer was advised that maybe he should go to his insurance company and claim vandalism to get the insurance to pay. It may have been someone who does not like this individual but that is for him to find out, but clearly we are not ripoffs nor are we in the business to be beaten over the head by liars and bad people. Kia is like any other vehicle, nothing is built to last no matter what brand but this individual could not provide the maintenance record for a coolant flush anyway so do not beleive this individual and do not take his word on kia, I own 2 kia made cars and both have over 200k on them. I have owned many makes and models and to me a mercedes can be a big piece of you know what just as much as a yugo was. do your research by consumer reports and not from someone who thought neglecting maintenance would not have consequences.
