Hello I had maintenace done at a car care center in virginia beach virginia. Next day I check oil level and its a least .5 inch over the fill line. I inform them of this and am upset dew to having to go back for this simple job done wrong.
As we discuss this they try to pull rank on me and say "we have over 30" experience so I tell them not only am I a licensed aircraft mechanic but have done a simple oil change job as a boy and have learned if you put in exactly what the manufacture calls for you have over filled the oil. WHY? Because when you drain the oil technically you didn't get all the oil out.
Overfilled is as bad as under filled. The crankshaft causes a whipping action there by causing the oil to be deficient. If they keep overfilling your engine it will reduce the life of the engine. A ASE certified automotive mechanice should NOT have to be schooled on this!
