On May 10, 2008 I ordered Nascar bedding with matching curtains for my son. Totalling $139.97 I received my confirmation email and was pretty proud of the price.

On May 15, 2008 I received an email stating it was on "short term backorder status". The same day the money was withdrawn from my checking account as I had used debit credit to purchase. I called the company and questioned them of their practice of withdrawing funds before items were shipped and was assured by un-named person answering the phone that it was a reasonable concern of mine but once the items were received from the manufacturer they would be shipped to me.

On May 27, 2008 I received another email stating that order "remains on backorder status." I made several calls to the company and left messages on voicemail requesting to be contacted regarding my purchase and never received one phone call in return.

On June 23, 2008 I sent another email complaining that no one would respoind to voicemails and received an email apologizing for the delayed shipment of my merchandise and that it was scheduled to ship the week of July 7, 2008.

On June 25, 2008 I sent a reply email stating that if items were in their possession and due to ship I would keep the order but if they were not in their possession from manufacturer I wanted a refund. Same day I was sent an email telling me that I was not unreasonable in my accusation that they were attempting to rip me off.

On July 9, 2008 I sent an email asking if items were received and ready to ship, no response.

On July 11, 2008 I sent another email asking if items were ready to ship... you geussed right! No response.

July 15, 2008 sent another email with no response. During all this time, numerous voice mails were left requesting someone from the company call me back and never heard from them.

On July 19, 2008 I reported them to the Cleveland BBB and sent an email to company notifying them that I had reported them and requested a total refund. While on the Cleveland BBB site I did a search for decorateyourbed.com sister site of Home Accents and More and they were already on there for previous claims of bad business practices.

On July 23, 2008 I took a chance of calling the company and truly did not expect a live person to answer the phone but a woman named "Jane" answered and I told her that I wanted a refund and she told me that "last week we sent you an email telling you your items were here and ready to be shipped". No such email was EVER received and it was a blatant lie. I told her it was too late and I wanted a refund. She said she would turn in a refund request for my money. She sent me an email apologizing for their "bad communication" and to expect a check in the next 7 business days.

On July 24, 2008 a refund check came in the mail and it was dated July 21, 2008 (I'm pretty sure me telling them I reported them to the BBB on the 19th prompted them cutting that check).

July 25, 2008. Today I took the check to the bank because I wanted them to call Ohio bank to verify funds before depositing, turns out check was financially secure but the owners of the company set the account up to require 2 signatures on checks. (Mine only had one signature). So my bank worked with their bank and after a couple of hours my bank called and said it was a go.

Over 2 months of work for bedding I never got!

To Cleveland's BBB defense I never really gave them a chance to adequately follow through with a claim but I did learn to check out a company on the BBB in the state they practice in before making a purchase over the internet.

The site looked so legitimate and I don't think they set out to fraud, just really bad communication and no follow through.

This is how it's a rip off....

I have kept every single email to this company and from this company. When I did speak to this person named "Jane" she told me about this alleged email that had been sent, I pointed out to her that no such email was ever received and told her it was a lie. I asked her to reproduce this email and she was unable to. I know what a normal person might be thinking at this point... "with the volume of email a company would be sending, how could they keep all incoming and outgoing emails"... but ask yourself this, without her having the email to resend to me, how in the world could she remember that she sent an email to me in podunk texas stating items were due to be sent out August 13? Thank you for your suggestion in advising me to "not go around calling people liars without taking every possiblity into consideration." I did give them every opportunity to refund my money without it coming to this, I emailed them repeatedly and called them leaving voicemails requesting return phone calls and never got one single person by name until the last phone call. Also, just because I did manage to get my money back does not constitute this as not being a rip off. I had never heard of this site (Ripoffreport.com) until I did a search for Home Accents and More after learning that it was either the same company or a sister company of decorateyourbed.com and it showed up on the search. I may be speaking out of turn here but I would believe the editors of this site will agree that the forums are for education and consumer awareness and just because I got my money doesn't mean other people don't need to be aware of the company's bad business practices. Lastly I clearly stated in the original posting that I did not believe they set out to fraud. Look at the other similar stories that people have on this company or feel free to check out the Cleveland BBB to see how they're ranking for similar practices.

I understand your frustrated with the whole situation, I would be too but this is not a rip off. First of all, have you ever considered that they did send you an email and you just didn't get it? Electronic systems are not gods and don't always work 100% of the time. I wouldn't suggest going around calling people liars without taking EVERY possability into consideration. Secondly, you got your money back. Some poeple don't even get that.

I re-read my story and wanted to make a correction.... On July 23, 2008 when I called and spoke to Jane and she lied to me about the email being sent she did not say "the items were here and ready to be shipped" she told me the items were due to be shipped August 13, 2008. I wanted to stand corrected.
