I ordered an air duct cleaning through Living Social for the great price of $49.00. The company offering the service was Home Service Guys. This included 1 main, 1 return and 12 ducts. The coupon was ordered in March, and when we called to schedule the appointment they stated the earliest they could come out was at the end of August. The appointment was sheduled for 9am, and I received a call the day before at 4 PM stating they had to reschedule. We agreed on the earliest date they could come out, which was mid September. We will get back to this soon.

My friend ordered the same deal, and she was lucky enough to not have her appointment rescheduled. Her appointment was set for mid September, and they actually showed up. They did a quick 25 minute cleaning at which time they stated they had completed what she paid for, which was the 1 main, 1 return and 12 ducts. They proceeded to take pictures of the other vents at which time they stated she had black mold growing in them. They stated to clean the additional vents would be $500.00. Unfortunately, she did not have $500.00, but they continued to press her.

The cleaning crew of 2 stated this was a serious health hazard, and they played to her weakness, which was her children. They talked about the vents being a breeding ground for black mold due to the hot and cold changing environment. They showed her pictures of filthy vents and continued to talk about the serious issues of black mold. After 20 minutes of basically telling her that her whole family was at serious risk, they stated due to the serious nature of the issue they would clean the remaining vents for $285.00. She was pretty scared at this time, and not wanting to be a bad mother who would put her kids at risk, she paid the $285.00. After 30 more minutes of cleaning they were finished and left the home.

Now, back to my appointment scheduled for midSeptember. I received a call today at 3 PM stating they again have to cancel my appointment and reschedule. At this time they are out to November, and could schedule me for a date in November. I'm pretty frustrated at this point and I ask for them to please just refund my $49.00. The customer servie rep proceeds to tell me she cannot refund the money as living social will have to provide the refund. So, I contact living social only to be told they cannot provide a refund if the company is still in business, and the 7 day period after the purchase has elapsed. And, of course, the fine print says they can cancel the appointment with 24 hours notice. Unfortunately, they cancelled on me both times with only 18 hours notice.

I decided I would file a BBB complaint against Home Service Guys, but of course, this compay is not found on the BBB. I went to file a complaint against a company not registered, but you need the company's address. After hours of searching, I realize this company does not have physical address listed anywhere on the internet ... not even on their website. Their website only lists the cities and states they are located in .... no addresses.

After my hours of searching I realize this company is really a scam company offering $49.00 deals on every coupon site you can think of (Living Social, Daily Deals, Fat Wallet, Groupon, Amazon deals and more). I feel like I was duped as I cannot continue to reschedule appointment after appointment. They know if they cancel enough times you will just take the $49.00 loss. And, my guess is, once they get here they will try every scare tactic they can to get me upcharged to $300 or more.
