Before renewing our contact, we asked if repairs to garage doors were covered. Sales rep, Judith, said, yes, garage door repairs are covered. We renewed our contract. We asked for help w our broken garage door and claim rep, Tony (female), told us our contract does NOT cover garage door repair. Got lots of pushback from Tony. We asked to speak with a supervisor. Tony said we could ask, but it wasn't likely a supervisor would talk to us. We asked about canceling. She said canceling on the phone is not allowed and our request would have to be submitted in writing by email.
We sent our cancellation email with that same hour. After several days, no reply. Emailed again. No reply. Called a week later and were told our cancel request was received but it will take 4-6 weeks to get our $350 back. They get to use our money for 6 weeks. We get hassles and more interest on our credit card.
In today's economy, Walmart notwithstanding, a credit card refund can happen within minutes of the original transaction. Why does Home Warranty of America need to hold onto our money for 6 weeks....while we incur interest charges on that same credit card transaction?
