Companies beware:

I signed up on HomeAdvisor. Part of my initial fee was $288 for a year membership to Homeadvisor directories (mandatory).

After a few months of worthless leads (more on that in a moment), I turned off the leads, not understanding that my 'year long subscription' was also turned off.

Now, they are attempting to extort another $288 out of me ... even through only a month and a half of the directory service was used.

Back to the worthless leads: when a lead came through, I needed to call a toll free number with a sequential extension to reach the homeowner. The extension didn't work (would not let me through to the homeowner) ... when I attempted to get my money back on the lead, they told me they didn't do that ...

So, as an employee of and principal of an older, succesful SP(business owner) account via HomeAdvisor, I'll confidently speak against these claims. Yes, our leads used to run you through an automated phone line where you would call or text the extension given to you back; in trade said actions would be you accepting or denying the lead (paying to get contact info to bid on said job, or not paying and passing said opportunity up, which there's nothing wrong with, you can turn your lead flow up, turn it down, or pause it as you please, permanently terminating leads does indeed change your membership package to an advertisement only package which indeed does cost more than a basic package lead buying account. Long story short, reason being for this rule is the online advertisement we provide you is incomparable. Other large home improvement websites, even our partner sites (I.E. Google, BHG.Com, This Old House, Realtor.com, 1-800-contractor; just to name a few) charge an incomparable price for the exposure offered; Google chrges 300 a month or more just for a preferred listing and no guaranteed calls! The $288 initial fee that the ripoff report user mentioned in their report is a membership fee everyone pays to get on board. Weather the controller of the approved account is buying or not buying leads, their company's profile will always be listed in our directory on Homeadvisor.com, as well as 100+ websites. Hopefully the HA rep explained this to the contractor I'm responding to, if she didn't she doesn't deserve her chair, matter of fact I'll put an investigation ticket on her if she never explained this. Bringing this full circle, we have a formula to work the Home advisor system; call the folks we send you as soon as possible, literally within minutes if you can. Introduce yourself as a matched contractor through HA, schedule an appointment with them if necessary, and keep your online profile looking good, updated and professional! If you do that your almost guaranteed to land plenty of jobs and make money to stay with us!. We have no binding contract, our 130,000 business owners stay with us by choice because they make more money with us, than without. Now to shortly adress the last complaint, let's say you follow this formula and don't have contact, or if its the wrong kind of job, if it's in the wrong area, or if it is bogus contact info, we credit those after a tiny little assurance call to the homeowner making sure WE aren't getting screwed! Reps don't get paid on signing people up, we get paid on you guys staying for extended periods of time, let that sink in. I apologize that your rep never explained this stuff to you and that she never answered her phone, call me directly if you wanna be in good hands hahaha. 3039638181 business owners only please!
