Buyer Beware of Coupons and Promos at Hooters International!  I purchased a Hooters VIP Wing Party online (ebay) was assured this was valid and before I purchased, I called the local store and asked if they honor the Wing Party certificates and was assured they do.  This was for all you can eat wings and soda for up to 10 people.

I gave this certificate to my boss as a Christmas gift and he gathered managers and sales professionals in his circle to meet for this fun-filled night only to be told upon presenting the certificate they will not honor at that store since it was not signed by a manager.

How embarrassing when my boss called me at home and asked me to talk with the Greensboro, NC Hooters Manager Keith Tehan.  He got my number and called me back from the restaurant's office (phone # 336-852-4600) where he told me that since there was no managers signature on the certificate, he would not honor it.  He then told me since there was a Coca-Cola logo on this Hooters VIP Wing certificate, it was too old since they only sell Pepsi products now.  I argued my point there was no expiration date and I called 6 weeks prior and spoke to HIS STORE and verified the certificate would be  honored.  After 4 minutes, 46 second phone call, HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!

This cerficate does not expire!  There is no expiration date, hence one of the reasons I bought it!  Now, I understand if he didn't want his store's profits to be hit with 10 starving people that will eat for hours, but this was a group of professional from that town and only 5 PEOPLE were present for the party!

This group that showed up to enjoy wings at Hooters were General Managers of two local stores and a Mortgage Banker.  Rest assured the word will be out on how rude Keith Tehan was to this party.  I know I would not have a job if I treated a customer this way.

HOOTERS OF GREENSBORO IS A RIP OFF AND SHOULD BE BOYCOTTED THIS SEASON!

I quit working for Hooters in 2006 and we had already stopped giving those wing party coupns out about two years prior to my quitting, so they stopped it in 2004. That is a very old promotion and you should realize that Hooters is not to blame. Someone knowingly sold this to you because they knew it was worthless.  Try to realize that Hooters is a business and will end any promotion if it is not profitable. They need to make a profit and have to try new things and end old things. It is not a soup kitchen so you will have to pay if your coupon is not accepted.

What would you or your company do if someone sold a fraudulent coupon for free goods or services with your company?

And then the purchaser called (and probably raised hell) about it.  You got scammed, the Hooters manager owed NOTHING and was probably justified in hanging up on you.  Reimburse, or offer to take your boss to dinner and convey your apologies to him for the scammer.

I don't see ANY Ripoff on Hooters part.

It is (admitted by HOOTERS MGMT) a legitamate coupon they had.  It's authentic but just not signed.  Remember, I called and read it to them, knowing it was not signed, they still told me it would be honored!  Pathetic.

Even if they were not honoring the coupon, they should have not treated their guests with disrespect.

Instead of acting with diplomacy, this Hooters Manager hung up on me, was rude to my boss and his party.  He never offered to even comp his meal for the confusion!  Had he done that, we wouldn't be talking, instead his poor customer service will cause him much more than he expected through my rants!

All I had to see was the word EBay....and sorry to tell you but you probably got scammed(intentional or not who knows).

I purchased a Hooters VIP Wing Party online (ebay) was assured this was valid and before I purchased,

- Just something to think about.  Would a scammer tell you "Oh you got me..no they are not valid, I was just hoping you would pay me the money and go away".  No, they would of course tell you that they are 100% valid and you will have no issues...because they want your money.

You verified if they would honor the certificate.  And they would have honored the certificate IF it was signed by a manager.  The problem here is that if there is no signature on the Voucher you wouldn't know to ask and the manager "assuming" that it was a certificate that was purchased through "valid" channels didn't think to mention it.  So at best you have a lack of communication on BOTH sides.

Now, not kowing how the seller got this certificate.  What most likely happened is that they "aquired" them through let's just say not quite legal methods.  Perhaps they were an employee who just grabbed a stack of them.  But like Gift Cards today you pick up in stores..it has NO Value until it is activiated at the register, in your case signed by a manager showing that it was actually purchased.

Unfortunatly since this was apparently 6 weeks ago when you bought it, you are past any dispute period, and unless you want to go after the seller in small claims court you unfortunatly will probly have to take the loss.

You can not blame a company for something that is totally out of their control.  Or do you think that Microsoft should make good on that e-mail you got saying you won $1.5 Million dollars for getting 3rd place in the Microsoft International Internet Lottery?
