I BOOKED MY TRIP FOR TRAVEL TO FLORIDA ON 4-24-09, HOTEL & CAR TAKING OUT THEIR INSURANCE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY .... I FOUND THAT MY MOTHER WAS RUSHED TO EMERGENCY THE NIGHT BEFORE I PLANNED TO TRAVEL AND SUBSEQUENTLY CANCELLED THE TRIP WITH HOTWIRE, WHO EMAILED ME FORMS TO FILL OUT AND SUBMIT TO ACCESSAMERICA (THIRD PARTY) WHAT HOTWIRE.COM DON'T TELL U THAT IF U IF U CANCEL U GET JERKED AND HAVE TO WAIT A MINUMUM OF 7-10 DAYS TO GET REIMBURSED,

IF YOUR LUCKY.....

BESIDES THE FACT THAT HOTWIRE.COM IS UNSYMPATHETIC TO MY SITUATION THEY ARE ALSO MISREPRESENTING THEMSELVES BY NOT DISCLOSING THE JERKED PROCESS OF FILING A CLAIM.

HOTWIRE.COM GREAT PRICES ON HOTELS, HORRIBLE ON SERVICE!

I"LL PAY DOUBLE THE PRICE TO DEAL WITH HONEST PEOPLE, I FEEL LIKE I WAS RIPPED OFF BY HOTWIRE.COM

RIPPED OFF BY HOTWIRE.COM

Yet another person who did not bother to read Terms & Conditions

You were NOT ripped off. Had you actually taken the time to read the Terms & Conditions of the insurance you would have cleary seen this: Trip Protection How do I file a Trip Protection claim? All Trip Protection claims and questions are handled by Access America. Completing a claim form takes just minutes. To begin the process, call a claims specialist toll-free at 1-800-334-7525. Please note that Access America may request information from you -- such as travel documents, proof of payments, etc. After your documentation is received and Access America determines that you have a payable claim, you should receive payment within 5 to 7 business days. Go find something better to do with your time than complain about something that was not a ripoff.

Wrong company?

There does not appear to be a Ripoff here, but if there is your problem is with the insurance company. Hotwire sold you an insurance policy for trip cancellation. They should have provided you in some way(probably a link or text) the terms of the policy. This would have included dispursement. Frankly just having to fill out forms and submiting the claim does not seem like you are being jerked around. It would be interesting if you would update how many days it took from submission of your claim to getting reimbursed. Had you paid double the price without insurance you would have lost double the money.
