Each H&R Block office is owned by a franchisee.  H&R Block Corporate makes all kinds of claims and advertising that it can not back up.  I recieved a Mailing from Amy McAnarney President, Retail Client Services.  It said" if you discover an error on your return that entitles you to a larger refund than we calculated, we'll refund your tax preparation fee for that return"  We scheduled an appointment.  We met Robert Robinson, ( I checked on H&R Blocks Bio of Tax Advisors about him it said he had thousands of tax hours) he started to do our return and I felt as if he did not know what he was doing.  He had to ask another guy there several times about this and that.  We get done and he said we owed $998.00.  I said that's impossible.  I said there must be a mistake.  We found he was off in our home interest deduction by over $6,000.00.  He corrected it and we were owed $300.00 dollars big difference.  This was Saturday.  On Monday I called H&R Block and told them I wanted my return reviewed.  Got a new appointment the guy was very rude and defensive.  However I was the customer who potentially had been damaged financially.  After several minutes I here him say well that shouldn't be there, and then that's not right, and he should have done this and you didn't get credit for that and We ended up with $1,800.00 back.  Problem is we now have to file an amended return, take 6 to 8 weeks to get what should have been in the first place.  The hassal, being miss treated and the calls, and then I call Corporate to find out about the refund.  They file a complaint to the franchisee.  They have no power over the refund, they said I was entitled to it.  So several weeks go by I call the Manager who is the owner of the franchise John Phillips.  He said the check had been mailed.  2 weeks later he said he would check on it.  I still have not gotten it.  Corporate is useless.  Their claims on TV commercials and mailings are unsupported.  You can not talk to supervisors, any managers, they say they never have heard of Amy McAnarney their President of Retail Client Services.  H&R BLOCK IS A JOKE !! IT IS A FRONT FOR SMALL INDEPENDENT FRANCHISEES WHO HIRE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE TO DO RETURNS.  GO TO A CPA!!!!!!!
