On January 21, 2014 I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned, 4 door, 2010 Hyundai Accent GLS from CarMax Auto Superstore in Hickory, N.C. I was assured that this car was a very safe, reliable vehicle, with great gas mileage(yea right) Well, 7 days later, the car was totaled on Interstate 40 in Marion, N.C. in icy weather. I was traveling 40-50 mph in a 70 mph when i hit a truck that had already crashed in front of me. I tried to slow down but couldnt because the brakes LOCKED UP. I hit the truck so hard, the battery, computer, radiator, etc. exploded on impact and the car turned off immediately. The seatbelt was so tight, I was severely bruised on my  chest and stomach for over a week. WHEN I WRECKED, the Certified Pre-owned DEATH TRAP was suppose to have 6 AIR-BAGS and NONE of them worked when i crashed! This 2010 Hyundai Accent GLS was advertised to be equiped with 2 overhead, 2 front, and 2 side airbags and none of them deployed when i wrecked. The car was ruled a total loss but Carmax or Hyundai would not accept any blame for the faulty airbags in this car and i am still paying for a car i drove 7 days. I hit the trucke so hard, my head bounced off the steering wheel and back against the seat again. I suffered 3 torn ligaments in my neck, severe whiplash, etc. from this wreck and I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI AGAIN! CarMax and Hyundai passed the blame. Carmax said that They sell cars that have previosly had less than 25% damage and that they had no Knowledge of faulty airbags in this car> Hyundai said that because i failed to decelerate/slow down is the reson why the airbags did not deploy! TOTAL BS! I requested to see a copy of the black box reading report from Hyundai and their engineering analyzer, and was told NO. Hyundai said that the black box reading was classified and privleged information for their eyes only. If it was truely my fault and they had nothing to hide, why couldnt I have a copy of the report read from my car? Do Not Ever Buy One Of These korean Death-Traps Please! BEWARE! RUN AWAY FROM HYUNDAI N CARMAX!

airbags do NOT deploy in this type crash to protect from further injury from the airbag itself.  Sounds like you'r trying to place blame on everyone but yourself for going to fast for conditions.

Nope, I DON'T work for Hyundai.

Lets see...By your own admission you were driving in ICY CONDITIONS.  By your own admission, you were driving 40-50 mph in ICY CONDITIONS. (Incredible!)  By your own admission, you were driving so fast in icy conditions you couldn't stop in time!  And now YOU blame them???  This is the PRIME EXAMPLE of STUPID DRIVING.

First of all you were going 40-50MPH on an ICY road trying to avoid a truck that had already crashed.   What most likely happened in what probably felt like 5 minutes to you, in the real time of about 10 seconds you panicked and slammed the brakes causing them to lock up.

Next, you use verbs such as "exploded" and "death trap" to make your situation sound much worse than it probably was.  I am not trying to minimize the accident, but the pictures you show hardly show something that has "exploded".

As for your car being totalled.  "Totatalled" has nothing to do with how bad the crash was, it has to do with the cost of repairs.  If the cost of repairs exceed the value of the car the insurance company will "total" the vehicle.  So you could have a fender bender, and if your car is worth only $2500 and the cost of repairs is $3000...even though it was very minor the car will be totalled.

But then we get to another item.  You first claim that the seatbelt was so tight it caused bruises on your body.  Well the last time I checked a Seatbelt is supposed to keep you from moving.  If your accident was bad enough to cause bruises..just how many injuries would you have had if it had some "give"?  But that isn't enough.  You then claim at the same time that this seatbelt that was so tight, was amazingly loose enough to enable your head to hit the stearing wheel.  The problem with that..well unless you have a severly long neck a seatbelt that doesn't give isn't going to allow you to hit the steering wheel.

Now we get to the airbags.  Here is a myth that some people seem to live by...airbags always deploy.  That is 100% false.  The reality is that they have more computing power in their control modules than the US went to the moon on.  They take into account hundreds of factors and only deploy if the threshold is reached.  The primary factor is decelleration and direction.  That is if you have a front impact your side or top airbags will NOT deploy because that will do absolutly no good to you.  The front airbags will only deploy if as stated the appropraite parameters are met.  Where since you apparently walked away with minor injuries..most likely they were not.

I suffered 3 torn ligaments in my neck, severe whiplash, etc.

- Well I say minor injuries because I have never heard of someone having a major "etc" injury.

One final item..if you are stiill paying on it that is not the fault of anyone other than you and your insurance company.

Oh and no I do not work for Hyundai or Carmax.
