Received a 26" ilo HDTV as a gift. Right out of the box, the remote was not working. I took it back to the store and the lady gave me another out of an opened box. Worked ok for a couple of months then the TV would not turn ON/OFF with remote or at the tv controls. After checking the outlets, fusebox etc. I called a technician, Walmart recommended, and paid a $95 repair bill. During all this I find out that Walmart has now discontinued this "store brand". About 10 days to 2 weeks after getting the device back from repair, I turn the set on and there is a horrible noise echoing/static sound that is so bad you can not use the set. I tried hooking up external speakers but you get the same horrible, ear piercing sound. I tried moving it to a different room and cable box with no improvements. I called the same repair company to see if perhaps it was a loose wire from the repair. There was not. I was also informed that there are NO LONGER PARTS AVAILABLE for these products and Walmart was not offering any assistance with this brand, no trade ins or recalls. They act like the product never existed in their world.

Between the price paid for the tv, the repairs so far and what ever it will cost to fix the current problem, Walmart now has double the size, brand name lcd tvs.

I realize I am less than a drop in the bucket of a days profit, but common courtesy would offer up at the very least 50% of the purchase price toward a new tv. I have a small business and would demand the distributor replace or reimburse a defective/inferior device to keep my customer happy.

Any suggestions of who to get satisfaction would be much appreciated.

Mfr Warranty?

#2Consumer Suggestion

What was the mfr warranty? 90 days? 1 year? Your repair should have been free if under warranty. Check the manual. If there were no service centers that were authorized to repair Ilo TVs - because they were an exclusive Walmart brand - then you had the right to bring it back to Walmart for credit.

Contact the store - ask for the Market Office. Contact that store and ask for the Market Manager. State your issue politely to the MktAssistant with facts in hand (date of purchase, mfr warranty, repair bill) and she will get back to you after reviewing the facts. I'm sure you'll get some kind of accomodation.

FYI - there are plenty of websites with product reviews. Spend a little more upfront for a Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi or even Samsung.
