I have been in and out of Imlive.com the past little while. Each time I would unsubscribe the last page would tell me my account has been deleted. Recently I have found out this is not the case as they retain your user/screen name, as per terms of use agreement, http://imlive.com/disclaimer.asp,but they also retain your e-mail address, the e-mail address affiliated with the user/screen name. I was under the false impression that my account/profile had been deleted. Which would include my e-mail address.

In December while I was online, a Yahoo 360 member contacted me thru Yahoo messenger, her ID was sexydoll3001, she started up a conversation which led to her offering her sexual services on line, she said her name was hotrochelle and directed me to sign up at Imlive.com, even offering help to sign up and a discount, so I could come and visit her. On further investigation her profile pictures from Imlive.com and Yahoo 360 were of two different people? Unfortunately I did not save the chat session.

Where she found my address I am uncertain, perhaps from 360 before I made it private? Or another source. I know I did not give it to her.

I sent an e-mail to imlive.com, from my yahoo account, relating to this unsolicited contact and they replied back to me using my former Imlive.com user/screen name account ID? I thought this was strange as they told me my account/profile had been deleted, leading me to believe that meant all my personal info. I guess this is not the case.

I then kept up the correspondence, being passed from one customer service rep to the other, asking them how they knew what my user/screen name ID had been if my account/profile had been deleted. After a few e-mails back and forth this is the answer I was told by Imlive.com.

Dear Sir,

As previously noted, your account has been deleted.

Your email address is in our records, It is corresponding with your username as this information is kept for data maintaining.

You will not be receiving any promotional emails from ImLive and your email address will not be used by ImLive as clearly explained in our terms of use.

Once again, the profile you used to have and all other profiles you opened on ImLive are deleted.

Thank you,

Are they really deleted???

Is this standard practice for websites, to retain personal member info and mislead them to believe it has been deleted? Do former members have any recourse to have their e-mail addresses released? Or is it standard practice for the industry? What would Imlive.coms intentions be for retaining the e-mail addresses? It makes one wonder if this is all they kept. How can consumers be sure that what the site admin tells them they have done is what they have done?

I do understand they can keep the user screen name, as per Imlive.com terms of use agreement also It will help them to create false membership numbers. They would also do this with hosts who have signed a contract giving Imlive.com rights to their names, pics and all video.

I did not see anywhere in Imlive.com terms of use any terms explaining the retention or the right of retention of a member's e-mail address?

Lastly Imlive.com has contracted hosts using unscrupulous methods to entice members to part with their cash. These methods can be found in various host manuals from the various cam sites across the internet.
