The letter I received informed me that I was the winner in the North America Sweepstake Draw (more misspelled words; their company name was also misspelled on the check that was enclosed for $4,200.00). I accidentally tipped over a bottle of water and the printing on the check immediately began to run.

The letter explained that I was to pay the non-resident tax with the $4,200.00 but it also indicated that the tax was only $2,650.00. When I called the agent, David Jackson, his Haiti accent was quite heavy and he was very difficult to understand. I confirmed his ethnicity. Mr. Jackson was very vague and told me to call him back the next day after I had a chance to deposit the check.

What I figured out is that they scam money from people that aren't as skeptical as I am by telling the "winners" to send the non-resident tax money as soon as they deposit the check. Then when you find out that their check isn't any good, the tax money has already been sent from your account. The "phishers" must have some way of contacting only people that they already know have enough money in their account to cover the bogus check. Beware!!!! This a total ripoff.
