Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Besides the 4.95 fee one pays when purchasing the gift card, it is estimated that 20% of all gift cards bought are either lost or never used. Incomm keeps this money.

•             Incomm puts an expiration date on the gift card. If the receiver doesn’t use it before the expiration date, Incomm keeps the money unless you call and request it to be reinstated.

•             An unknown percentage of purchased cards are issued blank even after activation by the retailer. This is what happened to me. Next the following occured…..

•             When calling the toll-free number on the back of the card, the vendor does not offer an option for “If you are having trouble using your card” so you may lose another percentage of the victims from this point. Incomm keeps this money.

•             If the victim is proactive enough to get a live person, by selecting a non-applicable option such as; “for lost or stolen cards”, after a hold you will be transferred to the correct dept.

•             There you are told to read several things from your receipt and if you don’t have the store receipt they tell you they can’t help you. Not even a copy of your credit card statement will do.

•             You are then instructed to take copies of the receipt, your driver’s license both sides and the invalid card both sides and email or fax it to a specific email or fax number. They will investigate and let you know of "their decision" in 10 business days!@#$%^

•             If the recipient does not know how to scan and email or he/she doesn’t have access to a fax, another unknown percentage will be abandoned without resolution. Incomm keeps the money.

•             Assuming you get past this step, you will then be left hanging with no response from Incomm that they have received your info.

•             Contacting the retailer where you purchased the card does no good as they will just tell you to contact Incomm.

•             Days later you may get an email from Incomm like I did asking for the amount on the card purchased even though this information was readily available on the receipt and card photos sent to them.

•             The email sent to you is a “do not reply” email so you will need to copy/paste your reply into a new email address. And you better be wise enough to put the case number on that email, even though they don’t tell you to do so or it may be discarded and you guessed it; Incomm will keep the money.

•             If you are one of the survivors of all of the above you will receive an email stating that a new card will be issued and mailed to you. You can expect it to arrive in the mail in 10 business days.
