I went to http://www.intelius.com/ in order to obtain the address and phone number of an individual. I paid $7.95 for the service. With that credit card information supplied to Intelius, I was fraudulently enrolled in a "Privacy Matters Identity" service to protect me from identity theft. I never received any emails or correspondence from the company on how to use the service, but was charged $14.95 once a month for the last 6-8 months for the service. I would like a refund, but I was also like the company shut down.

How I obtained a $119.60 FULL refund from Intelius!!!

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Washington State against Intelius. I received a full refund to my credit card, reflected on my credit card statement. I planned to cancel my credit card to stop the monthly $14.95 charge, but I was quite pleased that I didn't have to do that. File a complaint with the BBB, you may receive a refund too!!! ------------- Response from the BBB: Contact Name and Title: Brittney Fellers Contact Phone: 425-974-6100 x6101 Contact Email: [email protected] Intelius Process: The customer was presented with a single page offer from companies such as 24 Protect, Identity Matters, etc. at the end of their Intelius purchase. (The offers are not provided by Intelius; but from affiliated websites and/or companies.) Typically, the customer acknowledges the offer and either chooses to continue or selects "No thanks to the offer". By choosing to continue, the customer acknowledges their acceptance of the offer through a double entry confirmation process (i.e. entering their email address twice). All of the offer details and acceptance language are listed on the offer page. In this case, the customer chose to continue and accept the terms of the offer. If a customer accepts an offer presented, refunds can only be provided by the company that presented the offer. Intelius cannot refund products or services purchased from affiliate companies; but can only forward the refund request to the appropriate company. Intelius Resolution: However, we would like to inform you that we forwarded the customer's refund request to the company that provided the offer. They have refunded $119.60 to the customer's account. This refund will appear on their statement ($14.95x8) in one of the next two billing cycles depending on the closing date. In addition, we have disabled the customer's account. This will remove the customer from any membership they are currently enrolled in and will cancel the monthly service charge; effective immediately. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter. Our goal is to provide our customers with outstanding customer service.
