Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I received a call from (919)401-1900 at 10 AM on a Friday. I answered and the man asked my name. I confirmed. He then started yelling and asked "do you remember a membership at Anytime Fitness that you just stopped paying?" I replied no. He then went on to say "well you better get your memory back quick" he then threatened me with the fact a lawyer had hired him to come after me for money owed and if I didn't pay it they were taking me to court. He asked "so, you gonna pay it or not?" He didn't even give me chance to respond - I start to speak and he talked over me and said "you know what, good luck" and hung up.

I'm not sure who hired this man but I can assure you, he is not qualified for this job. He would get a better response from people if he was nice and calmly explained a situation and it can be resolved. I've looked this company up and there are many terrible things being said. It seems like they are a small time collections agency that only threatens people with past due gym memberships. I'm entirely convinced a lawyer is going to find it worth while to take me to court for $400 that's due. Seems like a waste of time and money. I would have been more than willing to calmly and respectfully discuss this but what happened was extremely rude and unprofressional. Absolutely uncalled for.

Whether you owe the money or not, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission against the company.  If what you described it accurate, they definitely broke the law.

Also "Jim" you need to learn how to read.  The original poster specifically said they did NOT sign up for the gym membership.  Stop being rude for no reason. It makes you look like an ignorant fool.

Correction to Jim: Not a deadbeat

I'm sorry that "Jim" feels that way - I not once in my statement said how conacting me was the issue. Contacting people with respect is one thing. However, when a "company" calls and the person trying to collect a debt starting to immediately yell at you and threaten you and then hang up on you.. that's an issue. Not them collecting a debt. By all means, they can try to collect their money. No one should be yelled at. Lets all be adults. And you also shouldn't pass judgement and call people deadbeats. You have absolutely no idea people's personal situations. You must work for this company or know someone who does.
