Yes I got scammed by iReel as well. Same story as many others at forums dot ovguide dot com and at consumerist dot com as well. In my case I was searching for the 4th season of a TV series named reGenesis and "googled it" and their link popped up.  I went their and was offered a FREE Trial and the nightmare began (plus they did not have what I was looking for anyway and that should have been my first clue).

iReel offer a free trial and takes your credit card info (should have been clue 2) only for future rentals and says there will be no charges to your credit card. Then they start charging if you do not cancel in 5 days.  They do a very good job of hiding the info about the monthly charges.

To add insult to injury when you call them to cancel they offer a premium membership for $2.99 a month - but definitely will not refund the $39.95 they soak you for.

Again I was looking for a movie that HULU did not have and it was late and I was not as thorough as I should have been in reading through all the fine print regarding "regular members" versus "trial members" vs "upgraded accounts" and that is where they get you - strictly a semantics game that most will miss if they are not looking for it.

Hope that anyone that gets taken by this deceitful practice files a dispute with VISA or other credit card company as that will cause iReel credit card fees to go up and eventually be cancelled for too many complaints and chargebacks.
Also remember to file with Rip-Off Report and the BBB and your State Atty Gen so this iReel goes down soon.  Can not believe they have been getting away with this for
over a year.  Plus I spent over an hour searching for a movie I would want to watch and do not remember even watching one there.

other info:   The Great "OOPS" at iReel dot con
It says: No charges will be applied to your credit card for signing up as a "regular member".
It also says: No charges will appear on your credit card statement, unless you upgrade to "Premium Membership" or you make a purchase from iReel.
Sounds great! BUT do we remember what we were signing for? Yes, free "premium" trial!!   oops   my bad for expecting ethics in today's world

also: They state the following when asking for a credit card: "Signing up to iReel is FREE! Due to contractual rights with the movie studios, we ask you to provide a valid U.S. or Canadian credit card. No charges will be applied to your credit card for signing up as a regular member.
Today's charge: $0.00".

also: States unless you upgrade your account or make an extra online rental, you will never be charged. What it is not telling you is that you are signing up for an upgraded account.

Bottom line is this is a very deceitful company with terrible practices that should be outlawed everywhere.
I saw in some other complaints if the consumer resided outside of the US they were given an US contact and if resided in US like me I was given a London contact.
