but I think it might have been a misunderstanding. You do have a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. That is your powertrain warranty, your basic, limited warranty is 5 year/60,000 mile, which you would have been out of at 65,000 miles. I'm not an expert on warranties, I've never had a new car, but all manufactures that I know of do it this way. They have two different warranty lengths, and advertise the longest of course. The commercials state 10 year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. (usually covering the engine, transmission, transaxle, axles, differential, etc. not covering items like windows, heaters, locks, radio, etc.) Anyhow I am not even sure if wheel bearings fall under warranty at all, I think they would be considered a wear item, but again I am no expert. You should probably review your warranty information to see what is covered under warranty. I'm not really sure from your report what happened, but it sounds like you brought it in for a problem, and they had to do an inspection/diagnostics and found it was a wheel bearing problem, which was not covered by the warranty. At that point you would have to pay out of your pocket for the work they did trying to find the problem. That's really fair that they be paid for the work, but they should tell you that you will have to pay the labor if it is not warranty related. Dealerships are well known for not fully explaining stuff like this to people, sorry you had to find that out. Again, you should really find out what your warranty does and does not cover, and maybe you wont have to go through that again ( and it will help you if they ever try to tell you something isn't covered, when it really is, another common thing at dealerships ) I did find out though on Kias (maybe others I don't know) that the powertrain warranty is 10/100,000 for the first owner only, if you didn't purchase it new it is only 60,000 miles. Although this is for the 2007 models, it may apply for yours also. If you purchased it used and they told you it was 100,000 then look at your contract to see what it says. Hope this helps some.
