You may have been told that you would receive the money in 24 hours because you had applied for a Refund Anticipation Loan. Normally, those funds are available in 1-3 business days. Your preparer should have told you that if for some reason you are denied for a RAL, it would roll back down to an assisted refund and you wouldn't be charged the extra fees. Assisted refunds come back in 8-15 days. So it goes like this: You applied for a Refund Anticipation Loan that is expected to be back within 1-3 days. You're denied for the RAL by the bank The return is then processed as an assisted refund which comes back in 8-15 days
