James Jason Calahan of Dreamlink Studios/Calahan Publishing look at engineers as if we were all disposable cattle.
I had performed 100+ hours of engineering for him. He paid for 40 of those hours on the agreed to time and refuses to pay me for the other 60 hours I have already worked for.
I have provided nothing but exemplary service in one of the most unprofessional studio environments in my entire career. The producer is a drunkard stuck in 1989 with a forceful personality that beats and humiliates performances out of the talent. James posted an entire video of one of his projects with a serious entertainment company on YouTube without their legal consent. 80% of the equipment in the photographs on the studio's web page isn't even there.
When asked to be paid on the scheduled and agreed to interval for services already rendered, he said that in order to be paid for the 60 hours I had already put in, I had to work even MORE hours just to get access to that money. Basically: Either work more hours in an unstable environment where weapons, drugs, and alcohol freely flowed under the promise to get paid for work you've already done or you don't get paid at all.
This is not how to conduct a business. This is not how to address contractors. In fact, this is criminal.
