On November 7, 2017, I went in for what I believed to be a legimiate interview with a car dealership Mak Haik which is a legitimate business. So I walk in and the gentleman named Jeff has me fill out an application. Then we go through the interview process and he sounds excited to bring me on. The catch though is I first have to sign up for a training class. I felt pressured to do it. The material is not even up to date which Jeff fails to mention when making me sign up for this training. The paperwork never tells you how to request a refund or contact the company. I later called my bank to tell them I got scammed and put a temporary credit back to my card. The con artist then supplies paperwork to make it valid instead of making it right and giving me a refund since I was not happy with the services. I looked up this guy online. Turns out he doesn’t even work for Mak Haik and is just a recruiter. If you ever see an ad for Mak Haik on ZipRecruiter, be careful because you might end up dealing with this guy and I don’t want you to be out $600 like I was.

 To anyone reading this Report originally submitted on January 24, 2018. Since my original posting, I have changed my mind and Do Not consider the StartTraining, pro Training Class recommended by Jeff Edwards to be a Scam.

I have since learned that this Training Class IS Definitely Reimbursed by many of the Georgetown, Round Rock and Austin car dealerships. It is reasonable that the car dealerships would not reimburse the training class if the car dealership did not see the class as important or valuable to someone getting started in sales who has never sold cars before.

Unfortunately, Rip-Off Report will not allow me to take down or remove my original posting which is what I would prefer. I can only update the posting as I am doing here.

Sorry to hear that you were unhappy. However, you are giving a false report and impression. I am including documents that state that you Were Happy with the training.

When asked (see attached Survey) if the training had Real Value, you answered "Yes". You were then asked if the training was as described, you answered "Yes". 

You also included the fact that you had No Sales experience and that was the reason why you took the training in the first place. 

Here is what Likely happened; After you signed the form and paid for the training, you changed your mind and decided Not to pursue a career in car sales. 

it is unfortunate that you never contacted our office to discuss your situation. You thought that just changing your mind and then contacting your bank to dispute the training amount you agreed to pay would be it. 

The attached form you signed states clearly that the amount paid ($595) is non-refundable. Dealerships do reimburse the training cost after 90 days of employment and also after selling 30 vehicles within that 90 days.  It is certainly curious why you did not include this portion in your original report.

You have done a great disservice to those who Do Want a career in the automobile industry, yet have no experience or training.

One of the sales managers who is now a General Sales Manager and who took this same training in 2003 just recently told someone he prefers to hire people who have had training. 

Why would a dealership agree to reimburse for this training after 90 days and 30 vehicles sold within those 90 days, if it was a scam?
