Jefferson Capital ripoff, harassing and threatening tactics Saint Cloud Minnesota
I had an Aspire credit card with a $300 limit. I lost my job and moved about 6 months later. In the move and mayhem of searching for another job, I overlooked paying this bill. I never received anything in the mail from them, no phone calls, nothing. Nearly 2 years later, I am sitting in my rather public cubicle when my phone rings. A man with a very loud voice begins to rant and rave about how I thought I could hide from them but they are smarter than people like me. He told me he was an "attorny liason" and that if I didn't pay $1,854.72 within 24 hours that they were going to call my boss and start garnishment proceedings which would probably get me fired.
I told him that I only had a $300 limit on the card and that I was not going to pay nearly $1,900 and certainly not within 24 hours. He then yelled so loudly in my phone that my cube mate could hear him. He yelled "Lady are you crazy? I am going to garnish your wages, I am going to ruin your credit and I will have you arrested for fraud!" I then slammed the phone down and had to deal with my co-workers questions and comments. I contacted Aspire who told me that my account had been sold to Jefferson Capital. by the way, the man that called me did not identify his company's name and I could not get him to repeat his name (not that it was his real one anyway).
