Money Order Scam
I posted an item on Craig's List and this person, "Jerry Springer">jerryholbrook44,responded. He? first asked if it was still available and I responded. Then he asked if he? could send a check or money order due to being out of town on business and would pay an additional $20 for the inconvenience and then arrange for pick-up of the item. I agreed and explained that the check or money order would first have to be deposited and clear. He? was to contact me asap.
He? responded and explained that his? assistant sent too much money in the way of a money order and wanted me to send back the difference via Western Union. Red flags went up because of a past experience with a potential roomate that turned out to be a Nigerian scam.
Out of frustration and anger I Googled this jokers name and found this site and read a similar report. I am due to get this money order in the mail and will take it to the so called issuer to see if it is indeed counterfeit and proceed caustiously.
Thanks for the heads up! Be careful! It's ashame we have to be so paranoid but the authorities won't even attempt to put a stop to these crimes. Maybe these reports will shame them into action!
