This Jiffy Lube manhandled my car and broke my windshield wipers when I took it in for a oil change. They asked if I would like my wipers changed and I thought why not its probably about time. Big mistake.

When I got my car back the likage of my wipers had been snapped. I did not notice it until two days later when it rained and I needed to use them.

I took the car back in and complained to no avail. They gave me the corporate number and I called. I was told to get an estimate and fax it in.

I spent fifty dollars on an estimate, faxed it in, and waited. No one ever called me back. I spent the next two weeks trying to figure out what to do next.

Finally after being passed off between three different people I was informed that the company would not pay for the damages and practically called me a liar.

Their customer service was horrible, their mechanics inexperienced and rude. I didnt even get a refund for the new wiper blade that was installed incorrectly.

Considering she did say it was her linkage fifty dollars is not overpriced for a mechanics time to inspect the vehicle and work up an estimate to repair. Anyhow I just wanted to say that there are NO MECHANICS at jiffy lube. They are lube techs still in or just out of highschool. That is all they know how to do- change oil- and they can't even do that properly. As for their inspections and recommended items- they always say the same thing. It doesn't matter if you need it or not- because they didn't inspect it. They just need to upsell in order to make a profit on the cheap oil changes. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford all the advertising and other gimicks they offer. Have a real mechanic check out your car when you get your oil changed. Or go to (((ROR redacted competitor's name))) and purchase a subscription to learn all about your own vehicle and change your oil and do inspections. I hate jiffy lube but they are a business and all of the poor people who work there are forced to rush through the vehicles and upsell everything. So I kinda feel bad for the people who work there. sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome! What the OP actually said was that the linkage was broken on her wipers. Living in the snow belt, I can sympathize with that, and can assure you she's looking at $350 to $400 to get it fixed. I would file a small claims case against Jiffy Lube. It's pretty easy to do, and if she can present a clear case, she should prevail.

I think Marc is suggesting that $50 would go a looonngg way

toward replacing an entire OEM (Original Equipment Mfg) wiper arm. OEM wiper arms require some real effort to break. The OEM arm is held on with one bolt at the pivot that can usually be removed with a 3/8 socket set. If outer clip is broken (more likely) a new outer clip is often supplied with a wiper assembly (Tyco, Anco) that includes the rubber squeegee plus the squeegee frame. So the $50 charge seems rich. Auto parts stores' staff can also help you understand what you need.

Who charged you the fifty buck for the estimate?
