I took my vehicle to the new Jiffy Lube in Culpeper, Va and was told to stay in the waiting area while they changed my oil. When they told me they were done I got in my truck and pulled off. I wondered why my CD was not playing like it was when I got out of my truck at Jiffy Lube. Well it was because it was gone! The well trained tech was also a well trained thief! I was so mad I couldnt go back there because I was afraid my temper would cause me to make a fool of myself so I decided I would handle the matter after I cooled off. That is when I realized my other CD's were gone too! I called the general manager only to get a voicemail so I left a message and never got a response. Since I bought my brand new vehicle I have been taking it to the dealer to get oil changes. I told them of my experience w/ Jiffy Lube and they said they had never heard of anyone stealing b4 but that I would never believe how many engines they have replaced because of damage done by Jiffy Lube.

I read with great interest your tale of sudden oil loss following an oil change. I can understand why you might direct your anger toward Jiffy Lube, too. But, did you know that Toyota has a major engine problem that affects at least 3.3 million vehicles, including the Camry? Are you aware that in 2002 that Toyota came out with an "Engine Oil Gelation" program? If you own a 1997-2002 Camry, you should have received a letter from Toyota informing you about this problem. What does all this mean? Well, it means that perhaps your problem originated in the design of the vehicle and NOT with one oil change. There have been PLENTY of vehicle owners who changed their oil every 3,000 miles in one of these Toyotas who have gone on to have major engine failure at less than 100,000 miles. Those who followed the owner's manual often didn't make it to 36,000 miles before sludge developed! If you had evidence of scoring in the lower engine, then you may be eligible for complete repair at Toyota's expense. BUT....watch out! Despite Toyota's public announcement, many owners have been denied. Toyota staff have lied about whether sludge was present in order to disqualify owners repair cost coverage. Send a certified letter to Toyota now to duly notify it of the problem. Sudden oil loss, along with smoke on cold start up and some oil consumption, are typical experiences in these cases. I recommend getting oil analyses done. Have the valve cover removed to inspect for sludge and take plenty of pictures for documentation. Please come back here to update us. Seek out the other Toyota owners who are uniting in this matter, and be sure to sign the online petition. Hundreds of Toyota owners are reporting a lack of customer service in this issue. Thousands are having the problem. Don't let Toyota use Jiffy Lube or you as the scapegoats. The trend is that Toyota is going to blame someone else if it can! BUYER BEWARE!
