JWH wanted a deposition from only my husband for November 1, 2007, but canceled like usual and now it is set for February 19, 2008. It has now been 4 years and house never been finished. The house has not been inspected by JWH for about 1 and Half. The siding is falling off, the roof is leaking, the porches are cracking and roting. The birds made nest in the ac vents, rats, roaches, and other bugs took over. The mildew is taking over even more. The doors and windows are unable to be open or uneven. Has two different types of siding and never been painted. The floors, roof, walls, and ceiling are uneven and warped. When standing inside you can see the outside in different parts of the house and all the installation is falling down. The step are weak and derange to step on. We already went to two court hearings and the judges both said the same thing. There is evidence of fraud made by JWH. So to anybody that is thinking of buying with JWH, RUN. Get your own attorney to check out the paper work. Anybody interested in seeing the house or talking about the house, come see it. The house is located on HWY. 347 two miles north of Cecilia or 5 Miles north of I-10 in Louisiana. God Bless all that are having problems with JWH. I Thank God everyday for leading me to a very good attorney. My JWH has been nothing but A NIGHTMARE!

Hi, I would like to say I understand what you are going through right now with JWH. About 16 years ago when I was 7 years old my parents had Jim Walters build our family a home. I remember it taking a long time, longer than my parents expected. My mom and I drove up there one day as she got out of the car and asked the builders some questions. I watched as a man began painting the outside of the house brown. When my mom got out of the car and we pulled away, I asked her, "Mommy I thought our house was gonna be green and white, why was that man painting it brown?" My mom became furious, she turned the car around and confronted the painters, telling them they were painting it the wrong color. Their response was that was the color paint they had so that's the color they had to paint it. I remember when we moved in the house still wasnt complete. The kitchen cabinets weren't done, all the handles were missing, some of the lights weren't installed in the rooms, the paint job in the 2nd bathroom was horrible. Well, after being in there for a few months I remember being asleep one night when I heard a loud noise and then a scream. I got out of the bed and ran to my parents bathroom. There was my mom laying on the floor on her back. It was storming really hard that night and the roof was leaking, causing a huge puddle of water in the floor that my mom slipped on. I remember she hurt her back really bad, something about slipped disks or something. They wanted to do surgery on her but she was too afraid of that. My parents filed a lawsuit against JWH and while it was still in progress we moved to another house (not a JWH). One day these 2 men in suits knock on our door and my mom answers it. The men explain that they are testing their new salad dressing out and want to know if we would like them to make us a salad, and if so, for my mom to go get a plate and bring it to them. My mom tells them we arent interested and shuts the door. She then watches as the men get back into their car and drive away---not even stopping at any of our neighbors houses to offer them salads. You see, after my mom hurt her back and filed the lawsuit, she told JWH that her back was in such bad shape she couldnt lift anything, it hurt for her to even pick up a plate (which was true)...Soooo, JW must have sent out their goons to try and catch my mom up in a lie or something...sneaky sneaky. ANYWHO, I believe the lawsuit went on for about a year and a half, finally JWH settled with us...they gave us $20,000, let us move back into the house and resume payments, and even said they'd come and re-paint the house the original color we wanted and fix everything that wasnt finished (and also the leaky roof). We lived there for 2 more years and decided to move. But anywho, thats my JWH story.

We appreciate the comment that the manager respond to our last comment. I wish that you would contact us to talk more about what you have written. Since the last time I updated, we went to court again on Jim Walter Homes and the judge said that he was not going to change his mind about the first decision. JWH attorney left the court so fast that my attorney didn't even get to talk to him. The house is leaking, siding is falling off, and many other things I can name is going wrong with it. JWH doesn"t even care about the condition of the home. We have put up signs in front of the house and have gotten alot of response for the signs. People stop and asked us what was going on with it and also told us that some are having the same problems we are with JWH. We have people coming from Mississippi to ask us questions. I ask anybody that wants to see or ask questions about the house. We will be more than gladly to asnwer the questions to the best we can. The house is located on HWY. 347, between Cecilia and Arnaudville. Come visit and veiw the nightmare home for your self. JWH thinks that we will give up and give in, but we are not about to. And We will talk to as many people as we can. Have a nice Day!

I was construction manager for JWH for 7 years and built over 500 homes in Tx and LA. I had my share of problems for sure and the majority of these were due to the poor quality of materials and labor. To find a framer that would work for what JWH would pay was a miracle in and of itself. The JWH pay scale for all subcontractors is pathetic. So much pressure is put on the construction manager to complete each home quickly. I would have as many as 20+ homes under construction at the same time. Being an on your lot builder meant that these houses were spread out over a huge territory. This made it impossible to conduct proper inspections and catch problems before they got out of hand. Even more pressure is applied to both the construction manager and branch manager to get signatures from the customer on the "Completion" or the "Completion with Exceptions" form. I hope this sheds some light on the subject and would be happy to correspond via email. Since the last time I made this report. We have gone to court and proved that Jim Walter Homes has inteded to do fraud against us. I have a very good attorney that found out that JWH has taken all of my 10 acres of land for the mortgage, instead of 1 acre that was inteded to. JWH also revised some paper work after we signed and forgot that they had given us a copy of the orginal paper work before they revised it. We even tried Mediation and they walked out on it. They hired a construction inspector to inspect the house and also had someone to check for mold and mildew. Well their guy found that the house was leaning to one side, so JWH hired a company to level the house. In which now there are beams under the house that seperated and the roof has a bow in it. The roof is leaking and the siding is falling off. JWH has not even attempt to fix any problems on the house since we went to court. So now we are into it for over 3 years now. JWH has contacted our attorney and said that the house was deteriorating and they were not going to finish the house. The house was deteriorating ever since they started to build the house, due to using lumber and materials that was exposed to the weather. This home was suppose to be my dream home. But they turned it into a NIGHTMARE!!!!! If anybody is having one built, please watch the carpenter closely. JWH will have them to cut corner has much as posible. Before signing any paper work, have another contractor inspect the house and have an attorney look over the paper work. My husband made a phone call to JWH in Carencro to ask about our house, without them knowing he was the home owner. He spoke to a sales representive (Wanda)and she slander us. She went as far as saying that we had no chance to win in court. For a sales representive of JWH, she should have never slander or made any commit about the house. The sales representive that sold us our home has either quit or was released. All I can say is that don't let them get away with anything. They will try to scare you, but don't let them. The more complaints against them the better it is for the future customers. Good Luck to all whom bought from JWH.
