On Wednesday, July 29th 2011 I offered John Holcomb, owner of Dallas North Aquariums a lot of over 12 residential aquariums, 24+ DAS Systems (commercial aquariums), and miscellaneous fish store equipment and dry goods, totaling a wholesale value of well over $50K for only $5,000.   I had decided not to open a fish store any more and was tired of paying over $1,200 per month in storage fees.  He promptly answered the email, and said he would take it!

He came, took three trips with his box truck to take good part of the goods, the most expensive part anyways.  After loading the last of the goods into the truck, he turns around and gives me a $1,000 check, and says, "Don from XXXX company will be here later to pay and pick up the rest."  Immediately I told him I hadnt sold him part of the lot, but the whole lot, and he had to pay for everything by the last of the month, or Id have to charge him an extra $1,000 for the storage fees.  He said there wouldnt be a problem, Don is a reputable guy, he had given him certainty.   After I get no call from the said partner in the deal, I texted John

hi john. were u able to talk to them? I'm starting to get really upset. this is not how this deal was supposed to go.  I didn't sell the dry goods for $1000, I sold the lot for $5000

John, that was not the deal.  I never put a price on the dry goods only.  I let you take the goods based on your reputation and the fact you have had your business for 15 years. So I expect you to do the right thing.

Right thing? That's offensive. If you want all the stuff back come get it.it's all still in the warehouse. Otherwise I'm done trying to help you

There are 26 more text messages, so Ill just summarize it.  I told him I wasnt trying to offend anyone, and that I wasnt going to incur the cost of the move, but I was glad to rent a storage facility next to his building.

On  Aug 4I texted: need $1500 by tomorrow noon, or the goods back.  Having to run after people for 2 weeks wasn't part of the deal.

He didnt respond after that.  I proceeded to call the "partner", actually was able to talk to the owner of the other company, who said he knew nothing about the deal.

He didnt keep the rest of the goods, telling me the best part of the deal was taken by John, and I had been taken for a ride.  At that point I contacted a few other people in the aquarium industry, all of which told me "Well, thats John alright!"  The supposed buyer said "John built his business by always doing whats convenient for John".  When I called him to ask for the goods back (havent deposited his check yet!) He told me it was all sold, that I was being an idiot and hung up on me.

So, if you bought aquariums from JOHN HOLCOMB or DALLAS NORTH AQUARIUMS, you might have purchased stolen goods.  Contact me via this ROR report, and I will give you the list of stolen goods.
