Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

DONT TRUST THEM!!! THEY LIE!!!

On April 23rd our truck was in Fort Stockton and the truck started to make noise in the back, near the drive shaft.  The only shop around was Johnny's truck and tire services.  So we stopped there to have them take a look at the truck and see what was wrong with it.  After they looked it over they told us that the clutch needed to be replaced.  The truck was shifting gears fine and there was just a noise but since they were the experts we figured they were being honest.  They told us that replacing the clutch would cost us $3,000 and they needed a deposit of $1,500 to repair. I did a bill pay  transfer with my bank for the amount.  Since the money did not show right away they asked me to do a wire instead.  So I did.  The following day I went to the bank again and did the second part of the payment.  I asked for a written estimate but I never received it.  I double checked with them one more time to make sure he was sure it was the clutch since we had NO issues shifting gears... He stated to me that he was 100% sure that it was and once it was fixed he stated that the noise would go away.

The next day he called me and told me that he has bad news.  That now suddenly the transmission is bad and that needs to be replaced.  I told him not to do the repairs to just put the transmission back and I would just take the truck.  He stated that it was impossible because they took the transmission apart and they had no idea how to put it back together.  I was shocked!! I asked how he could take the transmission out and take it apart with out getting my permission FIRST.  He said to stop f**king around with him and to just do the transmission he would only charge us $1,000 for labor.  I decided to purchase a transmission from a different shop for $4,300 and had it sent to his shop/  After the transmission arrived they put the transmission in the truck they called me and told me that I had to pay $2,150 for the transmission work and that the truck was ready. He originally told me $1,000 so I was surprised that it went to $2,150.  We sent them a comcheck for the amount and I sent my driver to check the truck.  They would not let the driver see the truck or drive the truck further than their shop yard without getting the funds.   Also this happened on a Friday.  They told us that if we did not have the funds to them before noon on Friday they would not release the truck to me until Monday.  So I honestly felt forced to paying for something before I even know if it was fixed.  The truck was shifting OK but once the driver got the truck to the highway the same noise was still happening.  We were unable to discover this while in the yard because we were not  able to take the truck up to any type of speed.

Since the truck was having the same exact issue we called Johnny and we informed him that the problem was not fixed.  All of a sudden now the transmission the one I just bought from somewhere else for $4,300 was not good also and that needed to be replaced.  Why did he not tell me this BEFORE i picked up the truck and paid him for putting in a bad transmission???  Do they not understand that there are safety issues here?? they feel its ok to let a truck leave after spending over $10,000 for them to FIX my truck and once we hit the highway we are having the same exact issue we brought it to him for...How is that OK????

So went back to the shop and asked them to load our old transmission in the truck so we can return the core and take it back to get some money back.. They said they did not have a fork lift so they could not load the old transmission for us.  So on Monday we found a fork life by ourselves.  Went back to their shop and got  the transmission loaded and then we left.  Now, we are part of a transportation company.  So we arrived at their shop on April 23rd and were not able to leave until May 16th.  We had hotel expenses and food as well on top of all the repairs that we had to do for nothing.  We spent $2,000 on these expenses.

When we arrived at the Volvo dealership (we had to drive 50 miles an hour)  they sent me a written estimate .  for $942.50  They informed me that only the leveling valve was stripped and no good.  They said that that was the ONLY problem that we had.  This is what caused the noise and all the other things that were done were just a waste of money.  Clutch and Transmission have NOTHING to do with the leveling valve.  They wrote in our estimate that more than likely this was the only issue to begin with.

Today on May 19th the old transmission was dropped off at the shop where I purchased it.  They sent me an email stating that after they inspected the core and other parts that there is NOTHING wrong with the transmission.  I have attached a copy of the estimate as well as a copy of the email for your review

I am shocked that I actually had to experience this situation with someone in this industry.
