JollyGrub is an on-line company supplying British products - mostly food-stuffs - by mail-order.  They stock a lot of products containing several popular British chocolate brands including Easter candy.

In good faith I ordered several items featuring chocolate but they arrived in deplorable condition.  The chocolate had all melted and reformed within and around its wrappings, it was also discolored.  Unpalatable in appearance and texture it had to be thrown away.

Tucked into the packing was a disclaimer stating that any damage incurred during shipping was not the company's fault.  When I contacted the company all they did was deny that they had mailed damaged goods, and that they had wrapped evrything in bubble wrap.

True, nothing was broken - but it was notable that the bubble wrap was neatly taped around an already compressed box (probably from barometric changes in shipping from the UK.)  The melting could have occurred during shipping to me, however the trip from Hampshire to Upstate New York in March isn't usually at melting temperatures, more likely this damage occurred in the transatlantic journey.

The bottom line is that Jolly Grub supplied goods that were spoiled and had to be discarded.  They issued a disclamer after the fact.  They showed no regret or concern that a customer was disapointed, refused to refund, and ignored the suggestion that a disclaimer issued at the time of ordering would  give customers the opportunity to decide if they wanted to risk buying perishables.

I would chalk this up as a company that really doesn't care a dime - or a British penny - about customer satisfaction.

We cannot guarantee that chocolate items will arrive safely over the summer months even if the thermal shipping option is used.

The customer accepts the risk of thermal damage when placing an order.
