The misconduct of our nations banks in regard to their unauthorized loan/overdraft fee profit schemes is severely affecting all Americans. Their flat out greed is unconscionable, and has vaulted well beyond reality and sanity to approach what could be described as an ongoing, premeditated and willful crime against against American workers. In the month of july 09 I had 12 overdraft fees from Chase bank. I had opted out of overdraft coverage at WAMU. But, Chase says they have no records of me opting out with WAMU even though I went into a WAMU branch and signed documents to this effect. What's even more frustrating is that two of the charges are on days when the account was not overdrawn and five other charges were because i used the wrong bank card at Walgreens. I have two accounts and the cards look identical so when my card was accepted i assumed it was the right one. This then triggered three consecutive overdraft fees for one item that i was mistakingly charged 3X for! With 3 separate overdraft fees! What this amounts to for me is paperwork I don't have time to file and phone calls I don't have time to make ...and a vacation promise that i made to my kids that I can no longer afford to keep. Please make them stop. If the moderators would like to look at any of my records to support my statements just say so and I'll send them along. I'm really not a big blogger. If I was better organized I'd have all kinds of links for you and actions you could take. But I don't. I just want them to stop. If my company could direct deposit under my mattress I would sign up immediately. I can't afford to bank anymore. How much more of our future will these bankers take before some measured voice of reason finally cries...enough.

I urge you to support the Consumer Overdraft Protection Fair Practices Act. Don't let this vital piece of legislation be rewritten by bankers as it languishes in never-ending committees.
