Just Brakes Store No. 89 LIES! Fraudulent caliper repair! Rip-off! Houston Texas
This actually happened to me in May of 2003, but I saw another posting for the very same store and thought I should add my experience. Ironically, before taking my car in for a routine brake pad changing, my roommate warned me that they would find the calipers dysfunctional and recommend replacement. She predicted that my $98 brake job would jump into a $400 overhaul... and that is EXACTLY what transpired.
I was asked numerous times if I wanted that service and warned about the potential hazards of not having it done. Of course, I steadfastly refused, but had I not been warned, I would have heeded the urgent warnings and fallen for it. My roommate saved me $400 that day.
Later inspection by another, trusted shop indicated no such issue. Beware, ladies. I have yet to hear any of my male friends recount such a story.
