Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
On 9/18/04 I went into just brakes store #33 to only have my rear brakes service. About an hour later I received a call from the manager Larry and was told that I need new rotors and pads for the back, and the rotors in the front needed to be machined. He also stated that I needed new calipers and pistons, the total came to about $665, I imediately told him to just put my vehical back together and I'd come in and get it to get a second opion. He quickly stated "No one else will do this cheaper than me, you should just let me fix this its not safe."

I informed the gentlemen that I wanted a second opion and to just put my vehical back together. So he then stated that I had already spent the 99.88, and I asked how, if you've replaced no parts, he stated that this was for the labor. I knew at this point this guy was trying to rip me off. The 99.88 included new pads/turning the rotors. So I hung up with him and contacted another store and told another manager what was going on he contacted Larry at store #33, I don't know what he said to the guy called me back and said don't worry about paying anything, just go and get my vehical.

So when I got there, I requested a detailed description of what needed to be done and how much everything would cost. I was told that they could not give me detailed prices, it was against their policy. I questioned the manager about this, becuase if you're going to charge me $665 I need to know how your getting the figures. Any way I contacted the coroporate office on Monday 9/20/04 and got brushed off just as I did in the store. Lucy for me I didn't pay these guys anything. I went to Huffines Chevrolet and didn't mention that I'd gone to just brakes, I walked away paying only $215, having my back rotors turned and pads replaced.

Nothing was wrong with the front, they were like new and calipers were just fine. I can't beleive these guys are still in business, they need to be shut down. And they need to investigate here just like they are doing in Florida.

Why is this company still allowed a business license?

I been a GM service managaer in the Dallas area for 16 years and I am amazed that Just Brakes is still allowed to operate in the state of Texas or for that matter in the USA. I can not begin to tell you the number of times customers have brought their vehicles in stating that when they took their vehicle in for the "$99 four wheel friction reline", they are told that they need over $400 in brake repairs. They seem to have a rubber stamp at Just Brakes for their estimates. The vehicles always need calipers replaced or overhauled, wheel cylinders and usually new rotors. I have yet to see one of these vehicles ever need the repairs REQUIRED by Just Brakes in order to warranty their $99 brake job. Angela, having the Chevrolet dealer fix your brakes was a smart move. I am sure it wasn't the least expensive repair in town but a least it was an honest one and you received original factory parts installed by factory trained technician.

That was great, I actually enjoyed reading your rebuttal (for a change). Wow, that would be very kool if anybody else besides me understood it! I thoroughly agree, and believe you should have had a part in the recent presidential debates. Peace man ;> !!!!

Hi it is Texino and these hurricanes are making me nervous, make my dog nervous make the cat nervous, plus no one donates the fetuses during this time of year. OK Mr. Smith. Did you know that there is a guy in Oregon named Don who went crazy after seeing a certain pattern left on the pavement from a brake fluid spill? So how many people do you think may have been driven mad while you were scooting around Texas with no brakes and picking over a measly $450 dollars! Why some of you people complain over nickel and dime stuff beats me. I should think that $2000 is about right for a brake job that leaves no leaks and gets your car stopped within 45 seconds, and doesn't make anyone crazy. Don't you think? Yeah I thought you would. You know, when I have a break from my important job of yanking stem cells from ah...discarded tissue, I often go outside and talk to the people on the street about the state of the country. Most everyone says the problem is the economy. Well I got in-touch with the President, whom I do not even like although I got to say his war on terror must be working since we have not had any since the last ones, and I said Mr. President how can we, the people fix this economic mess that everyone goes on about? Well the president said, "Texino, spend some damed money." So there you have it and it makes sense. Spend some damed money! That is the deal. Now do not be writing here to Ed and crying about these little bitty rips. If someone takes you for really big dough then telling us about it just proves you are a fool, and if it's just a few grand, just look at it as helping the economy. Makes sense to me. OK now before I head back down to the child chambers let me lay a little Buddhism on you. The world is a great big nasty sewer of a place; the sooner you learn that this is fact the sooner you can start on the road to feeling better. Stay tuned. Texino
