Deputies are investigating an Identity Theft/Fraud case by suspect using Craigslist site

DATE/TIME: March 5, 2016, at approximately 12:46 PM

INCIDENT: PC 530.5, Identity Theft

PC 502C(1), Fraud Via Computer System

PC 459, Burglary

PC 484, Theft Via False Pretenses

LOCATION: 25755 Barton Rd., City of Loma Linda

SUSPECT: Justin John Depolis, 35 year old male, resident of Corona

VICTIM(S): Walmart in Loma Linda, Confidential Persons

SUMMARY:

Deputy B. Ortiz from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Central Station (Loma Linda Police), responded to a call regarding theft via fraud. The suspect was found to be using the MoneyGram Money Transfer Service located inside of the Walmart in the City of Loma Linda. After weeks of investigation, deputies were able to identify Justin John Depolis as the suspect in this case.

Depolis had been placing an internet advertisement to rent out a home located on Emerald St. in the City of Redlands. In this case Depolis used the craigslist.com internet site to list the property. This property does not belong to Depolis and he was never given permission to rent the address out. The reporting party in this case sent Depolis money over MoneyGram to secure the property and spent thousands of dollars to move to California only to find he had been the victim of fraud. Depolis had also obtained personal identity information from the victim under false pretenses.

Deputies have discovered that there may be up to four additional victims of this crime by Depolis. The public is being encouraged to contact the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, Central Station at (909)387-3545Ripoffreport Report Image, if they may have been a victim or have information related to this case.

Deputies have not been able to locate or contact Depolis at this time.
