My sister visited from Atlanta and shopped at K-mart, bill total around $250.00. I asked her to pick me up a color HP Ink and a black HP ink for my printer. I paid her for these when she returned. When she returned the items she had some being clothing for herself etc. she kept receipt. She went back to Atlanta.

My computer was acting up so I sent it out prior to ever taking the ink out of the bag. A month later I get my computer back and get the ink out and find it's not the name brand, but Remanufactured Cartridges by Ink Station. I called her she said the guy in the computer section said this would work on my printer. Well it would if my pinter was just a printer, but it's a fax, copier, photo copier, and scanner too.

the numbers did not match. I did NOT open packages. She no longer had receipt. Without receipt they would not exchange (is all I wanted) for the proper numbers that would fit my printer.

When explaing this to the refund counter lady she kept answering the phone and repeating she can't do anything without a receipt. I ask to speak to a manager she huffed, walked off spke with this lady for about 3 minutes. Before I could even show the items were in perfect shape never opened and just an even exchange I get a "No refunds or exchanges without receipts" very disrespectfully. "That I could have bought those anywhere and just wanted to exchange them there". Oh, I must she did say at the end "Have a good day". And all this was said in front of my 4 year old, who saw how angry it made me and said as we went out the door "That make me steam like a vegetable. Guess who else won't shop k-mart when she grows up?

I can certainly understand if they had been tampered with in some way. Even like the ladies skates if they looked worn in some way again understandable. This beats them all.

I suppose now I must contact the manufactuer to find out what to do with these or try another k-mart (note small letters smile)

P>S> I have just started as a secret shopper, too bad this was'nt one of my jobs for they would have failed in all but, the cleanliness of the store and I can't help but personally belive that that's due to lack of customers.

I think this is your own fault. Why didn't you check the cartridges sooner? All you had to do was open the bag when your sister still had the receipt? I am sure that stores like K-Mart are ripped off constantly. Why should they believe your song and dance over other peoples? I don't think they should accept a return just on your word. Unfortunately we are in a world where people are always trying to get something for nothing. What proof do they have that you didn't rip off the cartridges and took the wrong ones so you are now trying to rip them off by exchanging? Stores have policies and you have the choice to abide by them or shop somewhere else. You will find most retailers have the same policies.
