Kaplan University Liars Scam Artists Thieves Davenport Iowa
While my husband is in Iraq I decided to continue my education. Since I live a ways from a university in my state I decided to attend a university on line. After completeing all my paper work including my FAFSA I was told everything was excepted and I would be starting my classes in April. I should have had a clue when they requested my paper work three separate times even though they confirmed receipt. Finaly my admissions counselor told me everything was aproved and I am once again ready to start in April.
Mind you I told the admissions counselor I could only attend if I had the loan and grant because I was not working and I could not afford any out of pocket expenses. She assured me everything was excepted and approved. So in April I called one more time to make sure everything was approved the day I was to start class. About three weeks into my courses I was informed that my FAFSA was filled in correctly and now i was not eligible for the grant, which means I would be responsible for almost $400.00 a month besides my student loan. Needless to say I had to drop out. Now they want me to pay $1200.00 for three weeks of class for which I will get nothing for. The only thing they were out was a $30.00 textbook everything else was at my expence. I used my own computer, dsl, and electricity. Why did my financial adviser catch the error on my FAFSA application, is'nt that's what she's paid to do. Now I have their collections department calling me 2 to 3 times a day for the $1200 which I don't feel I should be responsible for due to someone elses incompetence! Now they want $1200 I don't have and my dreams of my education are shattered. Thanks Kaplan for shattering my dreams!!!

Don't reply to my report unless you know the whole story. I am not the only one which has gone through the exact same thing. This seems to be a repeat pattern for this so called university. Not that it's any of your business, but I did check out my application on the FASFA site and I was approved for my grant. Reason being is my financaial advisor signed on to my application and changed information. Then when I was past the cancelation deadline changed it back! Therefore I didn't qualify for a grant. So before you call me a whiner, maybe you should walk a mile in my shoes. I would like to see how much you whine when you are cheated out of a dream to continue your education and your cheated out of your hard earned money.

did you bother to call the financial aid department threw the government, they would have told you how much aid you were getting, If you bothered to check with them before going toschool, you wouldn't have signed up for head aches. if they lied to you , fine whine about that, but don'' tell me it is their fault u r in debt, because you have checked into much of the problem yourself.

I just received my loan information and it shows they are still disbursing money to Kaplan University 4 months after I dropped out due to their incompetence. I only attended for 5 weeks of class. I contacted my academic advisor on April 21,2008 to let her know I had to drop out due to my grant being withdrawn. She told me she would note my records of this. Called Kaplan today to find out why the are still collecting money from Salley Mae since I had dropped out 4 months ago. They show I didn't withdraw, they say it shows I was blocked from logging in because of none attendance. That was another lie!! When I withdrew on 4/21/08 my adviser told me I would be blocked from logging on anymore since I dropped out. I then tryed to log on on 4/21/08 and was blocked. Hmmm something very crooked about this so called universty. If there is anyone out there who can help me please contact me.
