Karen Chagnon-Income Tax Service Incompetent, Terrible Tax Preparation Service Arlington, Texas
I was referred to use the tax services of Karen Chagnon by a boyfriend at the time.I used her services for two years while I was in college.I thought that this would be a reputable service, but I was wrong.She is very friendly and kind, but has no idea how to file taxes.After leaving her office and looking over the amount of my refund, I always felt as if "something wasn't right." I should have followed my intuition.I thought that my refund checks should have been a bit larger than the figures she came up with.After I graduated from college, I learned how to file my own taxes with the help of Turbo Taxes.Out of curiousity, I decided to go back to the tax preparations that Karen did for me.Let me just say that I was furious.This woman did not give me any tax credit for being an independent, full time college student (which I believe was a $1500 credit at the time), and she did not include interest that I paid on my student loans.I tried to have the taxes that she did for me corrected, but it is a long, tedious process to go back and "refile" taxes that have already been processed.Do not use this tax service company.I recommend using the online services of Turbo Taxes.If you do not feel comfortable filing on your own, go to H and R Block or Hewitt Jackson.I would not recommend using a small, local, and unknown business.
