We purchased the most expensive mattress and box spring in Brandon, Manitoba in September 08. This KingKoil  Aristocrat was queen size pillowtop luxury, costing $2199.+ taxes. We also purchased a mattress topper, since any stains would invalidate the warranty. Warranty said "lifetime" warranty, invalidated only by stains and the absence of a centre support on box spring.

After very few months of sleeping on this bed, big dents appeared where we slept, and there was a huge ridge up the centre. Apparently the foam was being pushed out of where it was needed and into the edges and centre. Pillowtops are not made to be turned upside down.

We complained to the store in less than a year. They looked at it and said the dent would have to be more than 3 inches in depth, and warned us KingKoil was not good at honouring warranty. We talked to the customer service at KingKoil at least 3 times. At their request, we sent 8x10 colour photographs of the mattress and its box spring. They "can't find them" and read us a new warranty that we had never seen, stating that the mattress must be turned end for end regularly.

Turning a mattress end for end will do nothing to stop the foam from squishing to the centre and edges of the mattress. The mattress is so heavy it cannot be handled easily, and that would not have made any difference to eliminating the big ditches. Our ditches are now 6 inches deep.

Bottom line: We have no usable mattress and no warranty after 2 1/2 years.

Our warning: DO NOT buy KingKoil mattresses!

Sue Them!

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, March 13, 2011

Sue them in small claims court. They will settle with you, as it is cheaper than the cost of defending.

On another note, KingKoil Mattresses are notorious for having the 'dent' issue you described. Do a google on them to find out what other consumers have experienced.

Also, in the future, do some research into what you are buying. An example is some of Sears mattresses are made by KingKoil but have the Sears logo on them.

Good luck.
